      Catch stunning views from Trsat Castle. Located on a hill above Rijeka, it was once used as a fortress in the 1200s but has since been rebuilt and renovated by the Frankopan dukes of Krk and most recently in 1824 by a commander in the Austrian army. It's the perfect example of how the influences of many different nations shaped this port city over the centuries.

      The City Tower featuring a clock and decorations added by the Habsburgs, sticks out in Rijeka for its yellow colours. It was one of the few major structures to have survived a large earthquake in 1750.
