OVERVIEW

Take an exhilarating ride in a Rigid Inflatable Boat known as a RIB through Osafjorden, a steep-walled waterway that is a branch of an even larger fjord. After suiting up in a thermal floatation suit, gloves and goggles, you will take off in the RIB on a high-speed adventure across the sheltered waters. You may see the occasional village tucked along the shore but few of those communities have roads as the fjord provides the main means of travel. In time, you will pass under Hardanger Bridge, the longest suspension bridge in Norway. This modern feat of engineering resembles the more famous Golden Gate suspension bridge except in color as it is white. Still, it is the surrounding natural beauty and forested mountains that are most breathtaking. It is estimated that the fjord was formed about 8,000 years ago when glaciers receded from the valley and seawater rushed in.
