OVERVIEW

Visit a family-owned boutique winery for a spectacular dining experience that includes organic wines thoughtfully paired with the dishes. Blanketing the hills of one of the highest points in the Penedés wine region, the MontRubi winery opened in 1984, but only produced cava sparkling wine for two decades. Today, it is known for a variety of extraordinary wines and for resurrecting the nearly extinct, indigenous grape Sumoll. While touring the vineyards and cellar, you will learn about the organic viticulture of the grape varietals and how artisan clay amphorae, concrete eggs and French oak barrels are used for fermentation and aging. It is a fascinating process that will be thoroughly explained before you retire to the adjoining villa for lunch and a tasting of wines that may include ones made entirely from Sumoll, Grenache and Xarel-lo grapes. The views from the terrace will be just as inspiring as the wine pairings.
