Behold the stellar natural wonders along the Golden Circle, a spectacularly scenic route where nature reigns supreme. Your first stop will be Tingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site that is significant because the world’s first parliament assembled there in 930 AD. Plus, the landscape has changed little over the last thousand years. At Geysir, you will behold a geothermal area with dozens of hot springs and geysers heated by the vast boiling cauldron that lies below the surface. The geyser known as The Churn spews a white column of boiling water high into the air every 10 minutes or so, creating quite the spectacle. The roaring waterfall Gullfoss is equally mesmerizing, especially in the summer, when the water levels are the highest. From the accessible viewing platform, you can feel the waterfall’s sheer power. You will also pause at Kerid, a gently sloping 3,000-year-old volcanic crater now filled with water.
