Gain an understanding of Roatan's natural wonders, wildlife and Garifuna culture before relaxing on the beach at a waterfront resort. Few adventures offer such diverse experiences. While cruising through French Harbour, you will learn about the many environment benefits of the mangroves that blanket the shore. Among them is providing shelter for water birds. You may spot species such as pink-breasted roseate terns in the mangroves, but you will enjoy a much closer look at Roatan's fauna at a nearby animal sanctuary. Capuchin monkeys, tree-dwelling sloths and scarlet macaws are the star attractions as they are wildly entertaining to observe. The traditional dances and songs of the Garifuna people are also captivating as you will discover during a special performance at the Las Palmas resort. A tasting of casabe bread, which the Garifuna make from manioc roots, adds more cultural texture. Afterwards, feel free to relax however you please on the resort's beach.

Settle in for a spectacularly scenic drive that includes the north and south coasts of Roatan before enjoying free time at the beach. From the top of the appropriately named Panorama Hill, you will be treated to a magnificent view of Coxen Hole and your cruise ship. You will then follow a route through the interior of the island to the Eco Caribbean Culture Park, where you might meander the natural paths that wind through the gardens and delve into the history of the Paya Indians, the island's original inhabitants. You may also learn about Captain Henry Morgan, the Welsh-born pirate that supposedly hid out Roatan in the late 1600s. For an understanding of the present-day culture, you will likely see a demonstration of how coconuts and cashews are processed. Afterwards, you will spend a few relaxing hours on a beach at Pirates Bay, where you will be free to do whatever you please.

Your adventure begins at the cruise ship pier, where you'll be met by your Captain and crew. After a scenic 30 minute bus transfer get ready to board your waiting 60 foot, modern, sailing catamaran. After a short safety briefing, you'll set sail along the scenic coast of Roatan in stunning turquoise Caribbean waters. During your sail to the snorkeling point, you'll be fitted with your snorkeling equipment and given safety instructions. There is plenty of room to stretch out on the forward sun deck and ample comfortable shaded seating. There's also a bar serving soft drinks and purified water before snorkeling. After approximately one half hour, you'll arrive at the snorkeling point.

Snorkeling here is about the best the Caribbean has to offer. Enter the crystal clear, warm water, via the center stair case. Get an up close view of beautiful living coral and a large variety of tropical reef fish. All levels of snorkeler's, novice, intermediate and advanced snorkeler's will enjoy this site. Your snorkel guides will direct you to the best areas and make sure you are comfortable. After all snorkeling is finished (approximately 60 minutes) you're invited aboard to enjoy unlimited rum punch, rum drinks, fruit punch, soft drinks and a rotisserie roast chicken lunch with rice, pasta salad, cabbage salad and fresh fruit in season. Kick back and relax, listen to Caribbean music as you sail to the disembarkation point for your return transfer to your ship, approximately 30 minutes. One of the crew will accompany you back to the ship and be happy to answer any questions about Roatan & Honduras. Take a bus ride from your ship to the West End. After a brief orientation, you'll receive your mask, fin snorkel and snorkel vest. Jump into the beautiful waters of Half Moon Bay to explore this colorful underwater world and the variety of fish in Roatans first Marine Park. Before heading to your kayaking experience, enjoy a great lunch including fresh fruits and quesadillas, as well as water, lemonade and iced-tea all day.

After a briefing on kayaking and after receiving your life preserver, take a kayak trip down to West Bay where you'll stop on the beach. You can take a swim or go on a nature hike and visit a banana plantation. You'll have shopping time in West End village at the end of your trip.

Enjoy the thrill of a 12-line canopy adventure with magnificent views of the Caribbean Sea! Your day of adventure begins at the pier when you're greeted by your friendly guide. Board your air-conditioned transfer for a 25 minute drive through towns and villages on the island. Your guide will share with you important information about the culture, nature and people of Roatan.

Upon arrival to the South Shore Canopy site, you'll be geared up with safety equipment, receive a safety briefing and then have your first photo opportunity. Once everyone is geared up and familiar with the safety regulations, you're ready for your adventure. The longest run is 1,300 feet, the highest point is 100 feet, and the total line length is about 2 miles. The tour will take between 60 and 90 minutes to complete, after which you 'll have some free time for photos and souvenir shopping before heading back to the pier.

Soar through a tropical forest on two exhilarating zip-lines and enjoy a meandering walk through the jungle on a nature trail with towering suspension bridges.

After departing from the pier, you will take a leisurely drive through the emerald-green countryside to the area's only extreme adventure park. Upon arriving, you will learn how to maximize your experience during a brief orientation.

You can then participate in three different activities, each thrilling in its own way. You may begin by strolling through the jungle canopy, much of it along suspension bridges and wooden boardwalks. From this vantage point high above the jungle floor, you can expect to see splashes of colorful flowers clinging to vine-draped trees, chirping tropical birds flitting through the air, and creatures such as iguanas and lizards perched on the branches.

A more adrenaline-pumping adventure awaits you on the zip line, which involves sitting in a harness and darting through the treetops from platform to platform. It will be absolutely exhilarating as you pass over trees and through pathways cut out of the dense foliage at heart-pounding speeds. You will be treated to a literal bird's-eye view of the gorgeous tropical landscape below so don't blink because it will go by fast.

For the ultimate thrill, try the Zuperman Zip. It is the area's only forward-facing zip line with a special harness that allows you to fly through the air headfirst like Superman. Afterwards, you will return to the pier in Roatan.

These horses will immediately put you at ease. The ride begins on an off-road trail from which the beautiful blue Caribbean Sea comes into view. When you reach the end of the trail, ride your horse right into the waters of the Caribbean Sea. The horses love a refreshing dip in the sea and you will love the thrill of the experience.

After the horseback riding, enjoy two hours of relaxing on a lounge chair and experience one of the best (and private) Caribbean beaches on the island.

Tour includes step-free routes, shorter distances and no stairs. Accessible restrooms with wide doors for wheelchairs are present along the tour route. Vehicles are adapted with an access ramp (or lift where available) to accommodate a limited number of wheelchairs and/or mobility scooters. Guides are not allowed to push wheelchairs; therefore, guests needing special assistance must be accompanied by an able-bodied.

Interact with Roatan's indigenous wildlife in controlled settings that will allow you to touch the animals if you wish. You will first visit a sanctuary that provides a home primarily for Capuchin, Spider and White-Face monkeys. As you will soon discover, they are exceptionally curious, friendly, and playful. You will be welcome to hold a monkey or two, as they are all quite used to human interaction. A wildly different animal experience will await you at a nearby marine park, where you might pet a black or green iguana. Often exploited for their meat, eggs and skin, these endangered lizards are protected within the park. You can also observe creatures such as sea turtles, tarpon and barracuda in the park's large saltwater aquarium. Although the atmosphere will surely be calmer at the flea market near the port, it can get exciting when you find just the perfect item. Handicrafts and casual clothing is particularly plentiful.
