The e-docs are usually available about 90 days prior to the cruise sail date. You should be able to download it from the "View Reservations" link for your cruise.

Bed Location

If we want our bed near the balcony, should we ask for an even numbered or odd numbered state room?

I did some more checking, and found that all the Balcony staterooms are even-numbered, while the odd numbers are assigned to Inside cabins. If you check the Deck Plans tab above, you will see that most of the Balcony staterooms are separated from the adjoining cabin on one side by a straight wall, while the wall on the opposite side has an offset. The bed is always located in the wide part of the room, while the sofa and dressing table are in the narrow part of the room. That means that to get a room with the bed near the balcony, just look for one where the offset makes the wide part of the room next to the balcony. You also can chose whether the bed faces forward or aft by checking the orientation of the offset wall.

I am staying in 13706 on Breakaway. When they say balcony is enclosed, does that mean no fresh air or just with a surround that I see in the pictures?

PrivaSea is NCL's room type name for an enclosed balcony. Enclosed balcony staterooms that are located towards the front or back of the ship have balcony staterooms where the metal hull of the ship forms an enclosure for the balcony. You will still be able to sit outside in the balcony. The advantage is that you have a little more privacy in the balcony compared to a regular balcony stateroom. Take a look at a pic of the ship from outside and you will get an idea of how the enclosed balcony will look from outside.

What dining room is open on embarkation day(options to the Garden Cafe)?

I have been on several NCL cruises , but not on the Breakaway. I know that the Garden Cafe is available for lunch on embarkation day. What dining room will also be open for lunch?

On embarkation day Taste or Savor will be open for lunch. O'Sheehan's is open 24/7 but I'm not sure if they are open for the few hours during embarkation.

I have been told the 20% service charge in the specialty dining is included in the unlimited beverage package. Is this true.

I have both the unlimited beverage and the 5 meal dining package. If I choose to take additional meals in the specialty dining, is the 20% charge covered under the beverage package? This is my first cruise and looking for any and all info i can get.

If you have the drinks package, the 20% gratuity will have been charged along with the cost of your cruise. If you have the dining package, the gratuity will have been collected for the 5 meals in your package. If you decide to have additional dinners at the specialty restaurants, you will have to pay gratuity for the meal. Any drinks you order while you dine will be covered by the drinks package.

Do the rooms have an iron or is one available

No. Due to fire hazard issues, the staterooms do not have clothes iron and you are not allowed to bring irons on board the ship. However, you can request the Guest Services Desk or the cabin stewards they will be happy to bring you an iron and ironing board for a few hours.

Is there a cigar lounge or somewhere nice to smoke on the Breakaway?

We're hoping there are nice places to enjoy a cigar, rather than some designated little corner where people go to get their nicotine fix. I thought I read somewhere that it had a cigar lounge called the Humidor, but I don't see one on the deck plan.

There can be some noise from the deck above but it again depends on the exact location of your stateroom. If you have concerns you can talk to your NCL sales rep or travel agent and get another stateroom.

Are there self-laundry services aboard the Breakaway? Washers and Dryers? Deck 10

If so, is there a charge to use? How much? What currency?

No. There are no self-service laundries. All ships offer laundry, dry clean & pressing services. They have laundry bags in your stateroom that you can give to the cabin stewards. Usually around the middle of the cruise they offer discounts on the services. However, I wouldn't use it for any delicate or expensive dresses.
