I booked Mini-Suite Stateroom, is smoking allowed on the balcony? if not, where can I smoke?

Asked by: MAHMOUD
Casino, deck 7 port side and deck 14 Bimini bar. No more smoking on the pool deck. NCL really putting the squeeze on smokers.

This is our first cruise. Do we need to bring "dressy" clothes for the cruise from PR to St Lucia, Barbados, Tortola, St Thomas etc?

Asked by: drmmgm
That's what we love about NCL - you can dress up if you want, or don't if you don't want. It's the essence of "freestyle cruising"! We usually bring one nice outfit and dress up one night on our own. That night is when we get our formal pictures taken as well. The only limitations are: Buffet: no bare feet and no wet bathing suits. Breakfast/Lunch restaurants: No bare feet or bathing suits. Dinner: No shorts or torn up jeans or bathing attire in the restaurants. We usually do jeans and/or business casual slacks with either a t-shirt, sweater, polo, or blouse.

We board at 1:30pm can we check in, leave our luggage and go back on land for awhile?

Asked by: terrilouise
To check-in you have to go through the security screening and one you complete the check-in process you have to board the ship. All guests must be onboard the ship at least 2 hours before the departure time. That doesn't leave you much time to explore even if you go out of the secure area.

Asked by: Kinger
I had no problem bringing my BiPap or 6-outlet surge protector onboard.

The other NCL ships that I have cruised on had a wonderful area "The Haven." I don't see anything like this on the Dawn!!

Asked by: Redcin
The Haven is only found on Jewel-Class ships, the Epic, and Breakaway-Class and later ships. Older ships have suites, but no Haven.

What to wear

We are taking the May 1 Cruise to the Bahamas/Key West. Are there any special parties or events we should know about so we can pack appropriately? Thank you!
Asked by: RCAG87
There are no formal events on the ship and formal clothes are not required. Here's a couple of links that will help you plan http://www.ncl.com/freestyle-cruise/prepare-for-your-cruise/what-to-pack http://www.ncl.com/faq#packing

We sail out of San Juan on January 6, 2019 on the Dawn. We were told we sail at 9:00 PM. When will embarkation begin?

Asked by: Jhoweida1
The check-in process usually starts at around 11 AM and they will let you board the ship around 12 noon. However, you will not be allowed into your staterooms until 2-3 PM to give the staff enough time to clean the rooms. You can have lunch on board the ship and explore the public areas of the ship.

Does my cruise include free aloholic beverages for myself and free sodas for my children?

Asked by: ordonez94
NCL does offer a promotion at the time of booking that includes unlimited alcoholic beverage but it is only for the first two guests in the stateroom and it doesn't include sodas for the kids. However, if you want to check if it is included in your cruise package, you can check your MyNCL account or call NCL. You may not have qualified for it or you may have picked some other promotional package.
