Towel Animals

I heard that the towel animals (which were always a delight to see when returning to the cabin after a nice everning) are no longer on any NCL cruises. Is that true? (hope not)
Asked by: LifeLover2
Unfortunately that is true. Our room steward said they stopped doing it because of waste of water, they have to wash all those towels that are used to make the animals. Our room steward said he would provide them if we wanted them. I’d ask your steward and hopefully he will do the same.

On the Norwegian Gem cruise ship, how often does your room get fresh towels and how often is the trash removed?

Asked by: myquestion
Your stateroom attendant will provide morning and evening service to your room. Trash will be removed each time, and towels which have been used will be replaced at those times.

Where do we do our muster?

We will be on Gem and wondering where we do muster.
Asked by: peppermintpattie
There will be an assembly station location on your room key card and on the back of your stateroom door. Once on board you'll see stations with signs located near the stairs and elevators. Ours was on our way to our stateroom. Hope this helps!

Is the Starbucks cafe, on The Gem, included in the drink packages or will there be a separate charge applied?

Asked by: firsttimer2021
I’m not sure about the Gem but we just got off the Bliss and Starbucks was not included in the drink package. However, you can use the Starbucks app, just make sure you have money loaded on it before you leave port.

Where is smoking allowed on the Gem?

Asked by: Beachfrog
As the health and well-being of our guests and crew is of the utmost importance, indoor public areas, with the exception of the cigar lounges and the casino, throughout all our ships are smoke-free. Dedicated outdoor areas are assigned to smoking. Indoor Areas Cigar Lounge: Cigar smoking is permitted in the designated cigar lounge. Cigarettes, pipe, electronic cigarettes and vapor smoking devices are not permitted in the cigar lounge. Active Casino players may smoke cigarettes, electronic cigarettes and vapor smoking devices in the Casino during gaming hours. Cigar and pipe smoking is not permitted in the Casino. Staterooms: Guests are not permitted to smoke cigarettes, cigars, pipe, electronic cigarettes and vapor devices in their staterooms or on their balconies. Smoking inside your stateroom or on your balcony will result in a $250 USD cleaning charge added to your onboard account. If cigarette burns on furniture, linens, towels or carpeting are detected; guests will be advised and charged for the damages. Guests in the Garden Villas may smoke in their private garden and on their private sun decks. Outdoor Areas Smoking, including cigars, pipe, electronic cigarettes and vapor smoking devices, is not permitted in or near venues serving food, the jogging track, outdoor sporting venues, children's pool areas, Vibe Beach Club, or Posh Beach Club. The designated smoking areas for cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, cigars, pipe smoking and vapor smoking devices are permitted on deck 13 forward port side.

I am a solo traveler and still want to eat at Cagney's Steakhouse - how?!

Reservations are for 2, 4, 6, etc. Not able to book for 1. Does anyone know if this is possible? Should I call!?
Asked by: solotom
I travel solo sometimes on NCL, as well. All you need do is book for 2, since that's the fewest number of guests the reservation system allows. When you arrive at the venue, just tell them there will only be one guest. One guest occupies the same size table as two guests, so there should be no problem.

On ships where there are balcony rooms and club balcony rooms: Do the balcony rooms no longer come with a refrigerator and a safe?

As a long-time cruiser, this will be the straw for me. I understand many changes but not that one.
Asked by: ChrisQ
We were in a regular balcony room on the Gem Sep 2021 and our stateroom 10104 had both a mini fridge and safe. Hope this helps!

Bowling

Does the Gem have a bowling alley?
Asked by: Alert
The Norwegian Gem does not have a bowling alley. The only ships that have a bowling alley are N. Breakaway, N. Epic, N. Escape, N. Getaway, and N. Pearl.

How do I get scotch in my cabin?

As many people do, I like to have a drink while getting ready for dinner, etc. However, I know that I can't bring liquor onto the ship nor can I buy it on the ship for my cabin. (We have the Free at Sea package.) It seems very cumbersome. (We are first-time cruisers.)
Asked by: CPRob
I would pick up a drink at a bar and take it to my cabin, or pick up one without ice and have it whenever you care to.

Is bottled water included in our room?

Asked by: Jelena
Depends on your Latitude Rewards level. Gold and Platinum members will receive one free carton of water. Platinum Plus and Ambassador members receive two. Otherwise you will need to purchase a water package. Hope this helps! https://www.ncl.com/onboard-packages/bottled-water-packages
