Enclosed Balcony?

what is meant by Enclosed balcony
Asked by: Kennz2012
Some NCL ships include a few balcony staterooms for which the balcony opening to the sea is somewhat restricted in size. Think of a matted picture. The scene is smaller than the frame. On NCL, these enclosures are called "PrivaSea" balconies. Instead of the opening extending from the deck all the way to the ceiling and from one side to the other, the hull forms a partial frame or matte around the opening, which is about four feet high and five or six feet wide. This is done mostly on balconies near the front or rear of the ship in an effort to reduce the effects of wind and sea spray. An internet search for "NCL enclosed balcony photos" should lead to several pictures posted by previous guests.

Where is smoking allowed on the ship?

Asked by: Beachfrog
Cigar Lounge: Cigar smoking is permitted in the designated cigar lounge. Cigarettes, pipe, electronic cigarettes and vapor smoking devices are not permitted in the cigar lounge. Casino: Norwegian Joy has a designated smoking room within the Casino. Cigar and pipe smoking is not permitted in the Casino. Staterooms: Guests are not permitted to smoke cigarettes, cigars, pipe, electronic cigarettes and vapor devices in their staterooms or on their balconies. Smoking inside your stateroom or on your balcony will result in a $250 USD cleaning charge added to your onboard account. If cigarette burns on furniture, linens, towels or carpeting are detected; guests will be advised and charged for the damages. Guests in the Garden Villas may smoke in their private garden and on their private sun decks. Smoking, including cigars, pipe, electronic cigarettes and vapor smoking devices, is not permitted in or near venues serving food, the jogging track, outdoor sporting venues, children's pool areas, Vibe Beach Club, Posh Beach Club or The Waterfront. Smoking is not permitted in The Haven courtyard area, but is permitted in The Haven Sun Deck area (forward). On Norwegian Joy, cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, cigars, pipe smoking and vapor smoking devices are permitted at Spice H2O, starboard side.

Procedure to secure an accessible balcony cabin

Have motorized scooter
Asked by: cruzldy
At the time you book your room, inform the reservations agent that you will need an accessible cabin. There are a limited number of these staterooms on each ship, so please make your needs known as soon as you can. You probably will need to chose a stateroom category which allows you to select your cabin number, rather than one of the lower-priced categories for which NCL assigns your cabin. If you already have made your reservation, you should contact the NCL Reservations Department as soon as possible to see if they can re-book you into an accessible cabin.

Does stateroom #8160 have an obstructed view and will it accommodate 4 adults comfortably?

Asked by: CDelia
The view is not obstructed, however the balcony is partially shaded by the balcony on the deck above. Four adults can occupy the room dormitory-style, but there are no privacy walls or curtains between the beds. There are two single beds which normally are pushed together to form a queen-sized bed. The third guest would sleep on the sofa while a roll-away or Pullman bed is provided for the fourth guest. If your room is one of those with an upper level Pullman bed, a ladder will be stored in the closet to assist in climbing into bed. With no privacy curtains and just one restroom for the four persons, you may find the accommodations less than "comfortable" for four adults. The experience likely would be closer to that of life in a college dorm room. You may want to consider a two-bedroom suite instead.

What is the procedure for getting a pass to Vibe Beach Club?

We've been shut out on a previous cruise because we couldn't figure this out quickly enough and they were selling them in an unmarked lounge on the ship. Is there a secret place on the Joy we can rush to after embarkation?
Asked by: JMLoots
On embarkation as soon as you’re on the ship. Stop by the customer service desk. They sell both single day and trip long passes. But only so many. And once they’re gone... they’re gone. I have only ever seen 50 passes.

Asked by: BACSI
The Norwegian Epic, Breakaway, Getaway, Encore, Escape, Bliss and Pride of America feature Studio staterooms. The Joy, which was designed and built to cater to the Asian market, is the only NCL mega ship which does not include Studio staterooms. Studios were added to the Pride of America a couple of years ago when it underwent a refurbishment. So far it is the only NCL "small ship" which includes Studios, although the popularity of this room type may result in their being added to other NCL ships during future retrofits. Passengers traveling as individuals on other ships may book other room types, such as Inside or Balcony, but may be required to pay a single supplement on rooms which were designed for two or more guests. NCL sometimes will waive this penalty, particularly when you book at the last minute for a cruise that is far from full capacity.
