Are there art auctions?

Asked by: Bgarre
The people who work for the art auctions also tend to leave out some information when auctioning their "special" pieces. On our last cruise, they kept saying everything came framed. We bought 2 paintings on a special auction and then found out, when we were filling out the paperwork, that it did not come framed. Then they talked us into getting them framed and we wound up spending a few extra hundred dollars. We'll never go to another auction.

What is the process of getting dietary restrictions accomodated?

I follow a vegan diet as I am severely allergic to dairy and eggs.
Asked by: kimimarie95
Contact the Accessibility Desk at 866.584.9756. They told me they would mark my reservation and that I should remind them on the first day right after check in.

we are in a family balcony. How many chairs will be on the balcony for us?

Asked by: agnest
There typically are two chairs and a small table on each balcony. The space available with a standard Family Balcony stateroom really is not large enough for more than that.

Enclosed Balcony?

what is meant by Enclosed balcony
Asked by: Kennz2012
Some NCL ships include a few balcony staterooms for which the balcony opening to the sea is somewhat restricted in size. Think of a matted picture. The scene is smaller than the frame. On NCL, these enclosures are called "PrivaSea" balconies. Instead of the opening extending from the deck all the way to the ceiling and from one side to the other, the hull forms a partial frame or matte around the opening, which is about four feet high and five or six feet wide. This is done mostly on balconies near the front or rear of the ship in an effort to reduce the effects of wind and sea spray. An internet search for "NCL enclosed balcony photos" should lead to several pictures posted by previous guests.

How do I find out the duration of a show (like Footloose or Elements)?

None of the shows list any duration. It is difficult to plan our schedule if we do not know how long a show will last. Please include such information with show descriptions.
Asked by: Catillac
Most of the shows run just under an hour. Footloose lasts a bit longer, just over an hour and a half.

Is there a price limit or a selection of certain meals for the promo Specialty Meals?

Asked by: kckcarter
In some of the specialty restaurants the menu will indicate one or more "premium" items. If you select one of these main courses when using your dining package, a surcharge will be added to your bill. The amount of the surcharge will be indicated on the menu. The vast majority of the items on the menu, however, are available at no additional charge to those using a dining package. Unfortunately, NCL's rules prohibit us from discussing specific costs on this passenger-to-passenger forum. However, an internet search for "NCL menus" will lead you to a number of photos of menus taken by previous passengers. You should be able to get a good idea of any additional costs that you may incur.

What are the activities available to families?

We did Disney and there was always something going on to get the family involved. Is it the same on the Joy? I mean outside of the pool, aqua park and things like race track, pavilion and laser tag? More so things like bingo, trivia etc...
Asked by: Anonymous
Bingo and trivia contests are held several times each day.

where are the inside staterooms located on the ship?

Not shown on ship diagram
Asked by: LaRuth
On the Joy there are Inside staterooms on Deck 5 as well as on Decks 8 through 15. You can click on the "Deck Plans" link above to view the ship's layout. Any stateroom not located along the perimeter of the ship is considered an Inside cabin.

can you bring bottled water on board

Asked by: kiya
Unfortunately, no. About two years ago NCL implemented new rules concerning what a passenger may bring on board. The only beverage you are now allowed to bring with you is bottled wine, and a corkage fee will be assessed for each bottle. You may not bring beer, spirits, soda, or water on board. Exceptions can be made for distilled water to be used for medicinal purposes, but all other bottled water is prohibited.
