Is there a hair dryer in each room?

Yes, each stateroom is equipped with a hairdryer. It usually is hardwired to the wall at the dressing table, so you cannot unplug it and move it to another location in the room.

How many island stops use "tenders" to load and unload passengers?

I have walking trouble and worry about falls if I must step on or off "tenders"?

Can I bring cans or bottles of soda onto ship?

Unfortunately, no. NCL began to prohibit this practice several years ago. The only beverages which now may be brought on board by passengers are bottles of wine, which are subject to a corkage fee.

Is there a dress code for any of the restaurants on Pride of America since it has no Formal nights? I will be eating in some of the specialty restaura

NCL does have a published dress code for dinner in the main restaurant as well as some of the specialty restaurants, but they do not seem to enforce it. Men are requested to wear slacks or nice jeans, closed-toe shoes, and a collared shirt. Women are asked to wear a dress or slacks/jeans and a nice top with either sandals or dress shoes. On several different NCL ships, however, I have seen men in shorts, T-shirts, and sandals in both the main dining room and Le Bistro, the most upscale restaurant on board.

What is the process of bidding on rooms after the final payment?

When NCL has remaining staterooms as the sailing date for a cruise approaches, they sometimes will offer some of the more expensive rooms to persons already booked in less expensive cabins. It doesn't happen on every cruise and not everyone with a prior reservation is invited to bid for an upgrade. Those who are invited will receive an email with information on the bid process. Usually there are several different room categories offered, from Balcony through Mini-Suite to Suite or Haven. You may even receive the opportunity to bid on several different sub-categories of each stateroom type. The bid offer you receive will indicate a minimum acceptable bid for each room type as well as the maximum bid for each category. You may bid on any or all or the categories. You may alter or withdraw your bids at any time up until NCL either accepts your bid or informs you that your bid was not successful. If you bid on multiple room types and one of your bids is successful, all other bids you have placed for that cruise will be cancelled automatically. You do not need to worry about the possibility of being double-billed. You are required to register a valid bank card account number when you bid. If one of your bids is successful, your card will be charged immediately and your reservation will be amended to indicate your new stateroom status. Please note that you will not have the opportunity to select a particular room location. Your new room will be assigned to you. If you decline to accept the new room your bid payment will not be refunded. When upgrade bids are available, the bidding process usually will begin shortly after the final payment date for the cruise. NCL usually waits until about 48 hours before the scheduled sailing date to select the winning bids and advise the successful bidders of their new stateroom numbers. Also keep in mind that when you are successful in winning an upgrade bid, you do not receive all of the amenities which otherwise would apply to the upgraded cabin. You keep the Free at Sea offers you received when you booked your original room, but do not receive any additional benefits. Another way to upgrade your stateroom without the uncertainty of a bidding process is simply to pay the difference in price between what you already have paid for your existing reservation and the current cost of a more desirable stateroom. Depending on supply and demand, the cost of some rooms may be reduced as the sailing date approaches and there still are some vacancies. Contact your travel agent or the NCL Reservations Department for specific information on what it would cost to revise your reservation to move up to a higher stateroom level. If you choose to upgrade in this manner, you get to select the specific location from a list of remaining cabins and you receive all the amenities available to your new class of stateroom.

Are we aloud to bring a hand held clothing steamer in our checked luggage?

Unfortunately, no. Guests are not permitted to bring and use their own irons or steamers onboard. Norwegian Cruise Line carries a limited number of irons and ironing boards which can be loaned to guests for a few hours at a time. They can be requested through housekeeping or Guest Services Desk. Irons and steamers would both be taken from guests at embarkation and returned at the end of the sailing.

Do guests with suites have preassigned seating for the entertainment shows?

On NCL ships which include Haven staterooms, a section of the theater is set aside for Haven guests, but the seating is not assigned, simply held in reserve until a few minutes before the show starts. There are no similar reserved areas for Suite guests. On the smaller NCL ships like the Pride of America, reservations for the shows are not necessary.

How many bottles of wine per person can you bring on board?

There is no limit on the number of bottles of wine you may bring on board, but please keep in mind that a corkage fee will be assessed for each bottle, regardless if you drink it in your stateroom, take it with you to a restaurant or bar, or even if you do not open it at all.
