Can I take my own hair blower and electric coffee espresso maker on the Star. I have the Penthouse with large balcony. Is there a iron and board?

Asked by: Lunayena
NCL prohibits passengers from bringing on board any items that are not supplied by NCL which contain any kind of heating element, such as but not limited to: immersion heaters, heating blankets, clothing irons, water heaters, coffee machines with heating/hot plates, etc. Hairdryers and espresso machines include heating elements, so unfortunately you would not be allowed to bring your own. Fortunately, however, each stateroom includes a hairdryer. These usually are hard-wired to the wall at the dressing table, so you would not be able to unplug it and move it to another location in the room. We have traveled on the Star several times, and have found that each time we stayed in a Suite, it was equipped with a Keurig coffee maker. For espressos, though, you may still need to visit the coffee bar. None of the rooms on any NCL ship are equipped with an iron and ironing board. You may borrow them for brief periods, though, by asking your stateroom attendant.

Can we have pillows that do not have feathers in them

My wife is allergic to feathers
Asked by: CCHenning
The standard pillows furnished in NCL staterooms have synthetic stuffing. I don't think feather pillows are even an option.

Is there a laundromat?

Asked by: Svenski
None of NCL's ships feature a laundromat, however laundry and dry cleaning services are available from the ship's laundry at prices comparable to those at a land-based hotel. There also will be a day near the middle of your cruise when the ship will offer special pricing on laundry. You can have one full bag of clothing laundered for a single low price.

What is a pullman bed and what is a pullout bed

Asked by: 225617122
A Pullman bed can fold down from the wall or the ceiling to provide an upper bunk bed. NCL staterooms with Pullman beds will have a ladder, usually stored in the closet, to assist passengers in climbing into the bed. Pullman beds are named for George Pullman, who designed this style of bed in the 1860s for railroad sleeping cars. A pullout bed is a type of sofa bed, which can be made up as bed in the evening, then folded away into a sofa for daytime use.

How far in advance of my sailing date can I book specialty dining and theater seating

Asked by: Billbrown
Reservations for shows in the theater are available on NCL's megaships, but not on smaller ships such as the Star. Dinner reservations can be made up to 120 days before your cruise (130 days if you are traveling in a Suite or the Haven).

What happened to the 5 O’clock Somewhere Bar?

Asked by: Lilymay
The Star is a sister ship to the Dawn, with the same basic design and deck layout. When the Dawn was refurbished in 2016, the 5 O"Clock Somewhere Bar was repurposed into The Cellars Wine Bar. I haven't been on the Star since before its last refurbishment in 2018, but it is likely that the same changes took place on the Star as on the Dawn.

How do I make specialty dining reservations in advance of departure with pre-purchased dining package?

Asked by: BBoecher
There are two ways. You can log into your "My NCL" account and follow the links to dining reservations. As an alternative, you can call the NCL Reservations Department at the number shown on this website and ask the reservationist to make them for you.

On the Norwegian Star, are there any Inside or Ocean View rooms that have a sofabed besides the 2 twin beds?

Asked by: 225617122
Unfortunately, no. If you click on the "Staterooms" link above you can see the floor plans of Inside and Ocean View staterooms. None of them are large enough for a sofa, although many do include Murphy beds which your stateroom attendant can fold down each evening as a bed for an additional guest, then fold away each morning.
