Why book a sail away balcony, pay a substantial extra, if the view can be completely obstructed?

Asked by: CCccc
youre not paying a substantial xtra, sail aways are usually cheaper. remember as in all things, you get what you pay for. I believe you aremuch better off, (and will probably be a great deal happier) if you choose the specific cabin you want. try a mid ship mini suite. Its just a little extra, but more room to breathe, better ship and eck location

How many formal nights are on a 7 day Greek Isle cruise with NCL?

Asked by: gmm713
this is freestyle dining (one of the advantages of norwegian) there are no formal nights per se. you can dress up for a picture with the captain, but otherwise you might feel out of place all dressed up, and literally no place top go

Can I take my own hair blower and electric coffee espresso maker on the Star. I have the Penthouse with large balcony. Is there a iron and board?

Asked by: Lunayena
NCL prohibits passengers from bringing on board any items that are not supplied by NCL which contain any kind of heating element, such as but not limited to: immersion heaters, heating blankets, clothing irons, water heaters, coffee machines with heating/hot plates, etc. Hairdryers and espresso machines include heating elements, so unfortunately you would not be allowed to bring your own. Fortunately, however, each stateroom includes a hairdryer. These usually are hard-wired to the wall at the dressing table, so you would not be able to unplug it and move it to another location in the room. We have traveled on the Star several times, and have found that each time we stayed in a Suite, it was equipped with a Keurig coffee maker. For espressos, though, you may still need to visit the coffee bar. None of the rooms on any NCL ship are equipped with an iron and ironing board. You may borrow them for brief periods, though, by asking your stateroom attendant.

Dining

How can I select the seating time for the main dining room and how can I add our traveling companions to our table for meals in the dining room?
Asked by: Krefty
With NCL you are traveling Freestyle. There are no set dining times, and no assigned tables. You simply choose the restaurant you want for dinner on any particular evening, pick your favorite time, and show up at the hostess stand. There may be a short wait at peak times, and you may need to wait a while if you have a large party and the staff needs to rearrange tables to accommodate you, but frequently you will be seated soon after you arrive. At specialty restaurants, for which an additional dining fee is charged, you can make reservations for specific times and dates to be assured of prompt service. You can book your dinner times online in advance of your cruise, or at the restaurant reservations desk once you are on board your ship.

what does the suite category codes stand for? ie: BD BB....

Asked by: dwells
The sub-category codes are used to distinguish groups of otherwise similar staterooms which may be more desirable than other rooms because of their location. BA staterooms are the most desirable Balconies and typically they are the costliest. They are located mid-ship, away from the noise of elevators, on an upper deck, but usually not directly above or below a restaurant, pool deck, or other public area. BB staterooms are slightly less desirable, and usually cost a bit less. In a similar manner, Inside, Ocean View, Suite, and other stateroom categories have sub-divisions such as OA, OB, OC, or IA, IB, IC, etc. In each case NCL attempts to set the price based upon the perceived value of the location or amenities of the cabin as well as upon customer demand. If you click on the Deck Plans link above you can get an idea of where the various sub-categories of staterooms are located.

Does the Norwegian Star have a Haven section onboard?

Asked by: keith718
No, there are Haven suites on all of NCL newer and larger ships, as well as on some of the smaller ships which recently have undergone a renovation, but there are none on the Star as yet. They may be included during the ship's next dry dock, but NCL has not yet announced when or if that will occur.

Is there a laundry room available for cruisers to use on the Norwegian Star? Not just the laundry service provided by the cruise ship for a cost.

Asked by: cs1970
There are no guest laundry facilities on any NCL ship. Laundry and dry cleaning services are available for fees similar to those at land-based hotels. On each cruise of a week or more there will be a day near the middle of the cruise when a laundry special is offered. You can have one entire bag of clothing laundered for a single low price.
