OVERVIEW

Connect with villagers and be amused by whimsical lemurs on this entertaining tour to Nosy Komba. Board a local boat and cruise past the lush Lokobe evergreen forest to the island of Nosy Komba. Reaching the fishing village of Ampangoriana, you’ll tender ashore and have a bit of time to mingle with the locals and browse for souvenirs. Approximately 500 yards from the village, find the Black Lemur Sanctuary, home to Madagascar's most playful residents. During your visit, you’ll learn that male lemurs are black and females are rust-colored, and observe these lively creatures as they leap from tree to tree. Leaving the sanctuary, stroll to a nearby snack bar, where you’ll be treated to a light bite to eat while you relax in the shade of a Tamarind tree and take in wonderful views of the Lokobe Reserve and surrounding islands. During your break, appreciate ethnic Sakalava embroiderers as they give you a demonstration on tablecloth-making, and delight in a brief folk show performed by the village children.
