OVERVIEW

Discover the diverse landscapes, wildlife and everyday culture of Nosy Be on a scenic journey across the island. Begin with a visit to an ylang-ylang distillery, where you will learn how oil is extracted from the fragrant plant for use in perfume production, followed by time at Lemuria Land to observe lemurs, reptiles and chameleons. Continue to the lively local market, where colorful displays may include tropical fruits, vegetables, spices, fish, vanilla beans and pepper. Travel north through sugar cane plantations to Dzamandzar, Nosy Be’s second-largest town, and stop to view one of its distinctive balloon-shaped houses. Visit the traditional village of Antsatrakoly for a glimpse of local life and its village school before heading to Andilana Beach. Enjoy a snack, a beverage and traditional folk entertainment at a local venue, with time to swim or stroll along the sandy beach. Before returning to the pier, browse a souvenir market offering items such as woodcarvings, embroidery, raffia baskets, pareos and seashells.

Note: This tour includes a limited amount of walking, mainly at the guest's discretion during the stops. There will be natural and uneven surfaces to negotiate. The tour available to guests who utilize a collapsible wheelchair, are able to make their own way on and off the coach and have an able-bodied companion to assist them. Guests with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of ability and tamina. Guests should bring along small denominations of euros or U.S. dollars for any purchases they may wish to make. The transportation used is the best available in this destination; however, it may not be up to the same standards found in other parts of the world and may not be air-conditioned.
