The Wall is the most sacred Jewish shrine in world.

This ancient cobbled road runs between the supposed location of Jesus' trail by Pontius Pilate and the site of his crucifixion. The church is believed to enshrine the sites of Christ's crucifixion, entombment and resurrection.

Treat your inner adventurer to an exhilarating multi-transport survey of the Southern Alps high country by coach, 4x4 touring vehicle and jet boat. It all starts sedately enough, as you head out by motorcoach into the fertile earthen patchwork of the Canterbury Plains – where the island grows its wheat and grazes its cattle. But don’t get too comfortable; the scenery changes dramatically as you reach Rubicon Station on the banks of the spectacular Waimakariri river gorge and make the switch into rugged 4x4 touring mode. Piloted with skill around Rubicon and Mt Torlesse Station, bouncing heartily across a spectacular landscape framed by jagged Southern Alp peaks and gorges, you’re bound to fill your camera with Facebook-likeable shots. A well-deserved stop for lunch provides a break from the action, but it won’t last. Soon enough, you’ll shift back into thrill gear as you board a lightning-fast jet boat capable of 360-degree spins and strap in for a ride up the steep-walled Waimakariri River gorge to Stair Case Viaduct. After that little jaunt, the coach drive back to Lyttelton will feel like slow motion.

This overnight program is conducted in a minibus holding no more than 10 guests and a driver and guide in each vehicle.

    DAY 1
Departing the port of Ashdod, you will have a scenic drive to Jerusalem crossing Israel’s low land and up the Judean Mountains. The capital of Israel, Jerusalem is famous for its timeless beauty and was once considered the center of the world. Note: Eat a hearty breakfast on board before departing.

Your visit to Jerusalem will start with a stop at Mount Scopus. From this vantage point high above the city, you will have the opportunity to see the breathtaking view of the entire city spread out in front of you.

Next you will visit the Garden of Gethsemane. According to the gospels, it was here in these olive groves that Jesus and his disciples prayed together on the night before he was arrested. You will also have time to visit the Church of the Agony, also Known as the Church of All Nations, which displays a mosaic depicting the betrayal of Jesus by Judas.

After a short drive you’ll start your voyage back in history. With your guide you will now start your walk through the Old City via the Dung Gate. You will visit the Western Wall which early European visitors nicknamed the "Wailing Wall" as it where Jews gathered to mourn the destruction of their temple by the Romans in 70AD. The Wall is the most sacred Jewish shrine in world.

Coming out of the Jewish Quarter and crossing the Muslim Quarter you will follow part of the route of the Via Dolorosa (The Way of Cross). This ancient cobbled road runs between the supposed location of Jesus' trail by Pontius Pilate and the site of his crucifixion. This route will lead you to the Hill of Golgotha and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. The church is believed to enshrine the sites of Christ's crucifixion, entombment and resurrection.

Discover the charms of two inland villages, one a medieval gem with fine shopping, the other featuring a rare olive mill. Unlike other villages in Provence, Valbonne was designed on a Roman grid plan, so the streets are straight and perpendicular rather than winding. After a guided walking tour through the leafy plazas, you will enjoy free time in Valbonne. You might be surprised by how cosmopolitan it is, especially with regard to shopping and dining. You will then drive a bit farther inland to Opio, a smaller village surrounded by olive groves and pine trees. Opio has one of the area’s few remaining olive mills, which has been operating since the 15th century. Now powered by electricity rather than water, the mill still presses fresh oil from locally gathered olives as it has for centuries. After hearing about the mill’s history, you will sample some the olives and freshly pressed oil with a glass of wine.

    HIGHLIGHTS:
    • Enjoy a leisurely and immensely picturesque drive inland to two villages in Provence.
    • Spend free time in medieval Valbonne, where you may shop in its sophisticated boutiques.

Explore two of the world's most historical cities as you step back in time with visits to Jerusalem and Bethlehem.

Your tour begins with a beautiful scenic drive from Haifa into the Judean Hills. As you ascend into these hauntingly stark hills, your coach will be traveling along the same route used for centuries to reach Jerusalem. The capital of Israel, Jerusalem is famous for its timeless beauty and was once considered the center of the world. As you navigate your way through this amazing city, you will pass some of Israel's most notable landmarks, such as the Hebrew University, home to 2005 Nobel Prize winner Professor Emeritus Robert J. Aumann, the Israel Museum, the Shrine of the Book, the Knesset (Israel's Parliament) and the State Supreme High Court. After an interesting overview of the city, you'll proceed toward the Mount of Olives where time will be allowed to take photos from this highly favorable vantage point that provides an unparalleled and breathtaking panorama of the walled Old City. Near the base of the Mount, you will find the picturesque Gardens of Gethsemane, site of an ancient olive oil press yard that is surrounded by 1,000-year-old trees. Here you can also see the impressive Church of All Nations.

Following an unforgettable morning, you will be treated to a relaxing lunch at a local hotel before it's time to continue your exploration of this fascinating destination with a walking tour of the historical Old City. Entering via the Jaffa Gate, your walk will take you past some of the most sacred sites in religious history. As you make your way along a route that flanks the colorful bazaar, you'll observe the Christian Quarter, which rests beside a part of the famous Via Dolorosa, believed by many to be the route Jesus followed as he carried his cross to Calvary. Amongst the sites you will view is the golden-topped Dome of the Rock. With its stunning blue and gold ceramic tiles, this amazing shrine is considered the third holiest site in Islam. You will also view the famous Western Wall, the holiest site in the Jewish world because it is believed to have been closest to where the Holy Ark once stood. A visit to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher is also included. Perched on the hill known as Golgotha, the Church marks the site of Jesus' crucifixion, burial and resurrection.

Rejoining your coach, you'll leave the city behind and make your way through the Judean Hills to the edge of the desert, where the legendary town of Bethlehem is found. Your time here includes a visit to Manger Square and the renowned Church of the Nativity. This extraordinary church is built over a grotto that is believed to be the location of Jesus' birth. Due to time constraints and very long lines to enter the actual grotto, doing so is usually not a possibility. After what will no doubt be a highly memorable visit, you'll re-board your coach and enjoy a leisurely drive back to the ship.

Enjoy an enlightening tour of Naples by visiting Spaccanapoli, the street that divides the city, and by savoring folded pizza, a classic Neapolitan treat.

After departing from the pier, you will begin a panoramic drive around Naples, taking in the views from locales such as Posillipo Hill in one of the city’s most affluent areas. Along the way, you will pass the imposing Castle Nuovo.

While parts of it date to the 13th century, it is still known as the new castle to distinguish it from the famed Egg Castle, which began as a 1st-century Roman villa. Castle Nuovo’s five towers make it one of Naples’ most recognizable landmarks. You will also see the Egg Castle, which holds a commanding position on the sea.

In time, you will reach Spaccanapoli, a long street whose name means “Naples splitter,” a reference to it seeming to divide the city in two. Here, you will visit the Jesuit church Gesú Nuovo and the Church of Santa Chiara, which was founded in 1310 and features an austere Provencal-Gothic style. Much of Santa Chiara had to be rebuilt after World War II.

For an even more authentic glimpse into daily life, you will walk through the narrow streets of Old Town, which UNESCO has declared a Cultural Heritage site. As you will discover, there is no better setting to eat portafoglio or folded pizza, as the dish was invented in Naples. A cup of fresh espresso at a nearby café standing at the counter as Neapolitan does will top off the experience.

Follow the curator of the legendary Mariinsky Theatre on a private behind-the-scenes tour and then linger over a cup of tea with a ballerina as she shares stories of her life as a dancer. The neoclassical theatre can trace its history back to 1783. It is masterfully designed and surprisingly large, as it has been renovated repeatedly and added onto over the centuries. The curator will lead you into areas that are typically off limits to the general public. Depending on the day, your insider’s tour could reveal the inner workings of the stage, the grandeur of the royal box and the costume storage rooms. You may also hear intriguing details about the lives of the most famous dancers and singers that have performed there. Afterwards, you will meet a ballerina in a nearby restaurant. She will openly share her personal life story, and you are welcome to ask questions about her experiences on and off the stage.

    HIGHLIGHTS:
    • Take an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the Mariinsky Theatre with the curator.
    • Learn the inner workings of the theatre and details about the lives of its famous dancers.
