Become immersed in the New York lifestyle in Greenwich Village by sampling classic local treats, learning about different neighborhoods, and browsing lively Washington Square Park.
After departing from the pier, you will soon arrive at the 50th Street subway, where the guide will accompany you on a subway ride down to Greenwich Village. Emerging at the West 4th Street Station, you will then begin an enlightening walking tour of the neighborhood.
The immediate focus will be on exploring Washington Square Park, a vibrant greenscape surrounded by one-of-a-kind shops, trendy restaurants and New York University. The mix of people is always extraordinary and the energy almost palpable as the locals go about their day-to-day activities.
It’s easy to feel like New Yorker here, especially when you eat like one. While walking around the village, you will have the opportunity to sample all sorts of New York specialties. You can expect to sink your teeth into a hot slice of thin-crust pizza, a traditional rice ball, and a crispy cannoli.
For dessert, think cupcakes. No longer just for kids, these sweet treats have evolved into elaborate desserts topped with everything from gumdrops to popcorn.
Your immersion into New York life includes an overview of the architecture. You will walk the traditional Italian neighborhood along Bleecker Street and see the narrowest house in New York, a residence not even 10 feet wide.
If time permits, you will also enjoy some free time to further explore on your own before transferring back to the pier via minibus.
