    OVERVIEW

Settle in for a panoramic drive across Ibiza and explore some of its most enchanting villages before enjoying lunch at a beachfront restaurant. A winding road through pine-forested mountains will bring you to Sant Josep, a beach-blessed village nestled in the foothills. It is a wonderfully scenic setting with white-washed houses and medieval churches. Farther down the coast, you will pause to admire Es Vedra, a petite nearly 100-year-old lighthouse on a rocky island whose only inhabitants are goats. Sant Antoni de Portmany is another village on Ibiza’s western coast and it has become quite the foodie destination. Fishermen unload their catch daily and the local agricultural cooperative supplies a bounty of seasonal produce. While dining at a family-owned waterfront restaurant that overlooks the Sant Antoni Yacht Club, you will taste the difference that fresh, locally sourced ingredients make. Lovely inland villages are also plentiful as you will see while later passing through Santa Gertrudis.

    HIGHLIGHTS

    • See some of the island’s most characteristic coastal and inland villages.
    • Visit the gorgeous beach-rimmed village of Sant Josep on Ibiza’s western shore.
    • Pause at a lookout that presents a dramatic view of the lighthouse Es Vedra.
    • Dine on traditional cuisine at a waterfront restaurant in Sant Antoni de Portmany.

Discover southern Ibiza: Ses Salines salt pits, tranquil San Jose, vibrant San Antonio with a scenic promenade with free time to explore the towns. more...

Gain an overview of the various facets of Ibiza on this tour that travels to the southern area of the island and highlights both the trendy and the simplistic, unspoiled beauty of this popular destination.

Leaving the pier, you will head for San Jose, passing Ses Salines, an interesting area consisting of salt pits along the way. The salt industry was one of the first on the island and depending on the season, Ses Salines is also a great place for bird watching, especially Flamingos. From here, you will next pass by Sa Caleta, an area that offers up wonderful panoramic views.

The town of San Jose is located high in the hills and is the largest municipality on the island. Far from the hustle and bustle of Ibiza's resort areas, the town embraces a more tranquil ambience and offers visitors a peaceful respite. Still, the town has wonderful eateries, shops and a memorable 14th century Parish church. There will be free time here to explore on your own or simply find a shady spot to sit and relax, appreciating the un-hurried charm of this village.

Your tour next travels to San Antonio, once a small fishing village, today it is a vibrant resort area with a wealth of hotels, restaurants and clubs. The city is dominated by the beautiful palm-lined promenade which skirts the harbor, constantly busy with yachts, speedboats and ferryboats. The harbor, called Portus Magnus by the Romans, is one of the most beautiful and famous natural harbors in Europe. Your time in San Antonio is at your leisure and you will no doubt want to stroll around the Paseo of San Antonio, with its cascading water fountains or perhaps relax and enjoy a glass of the local Sangria.

After approximately 1-hour in San Antonio, it's time to re-board your coach and travel back to the pier where your tour concludes.

Explore UNESCO-listed Dalt Vila's historic acropolis. Walk cobbled streets, visit St. Mary's Cathedral and Contemporary Art Museum for great views. more...

Explore Dalt Vila, a historical section of town that UNESCO deemed a World Heritage site for being an exceptional example of a fortified acropolis. The Phoenicians originally settled this part of the island, but it was often invaded so the defensive walls were strengthened repeatedly until the Renaissance.

To enter this atmospheric district, you will pass through El Portal de Ses Taules, a stone gateway that an imperial coat of arms crowns. As you stroll the winding cobbled streets, you can expect to come across plazas lined with restaurants and shops and the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Snows, a magnificent Catalan Gothic building that stands near the highest point in Dalt Vila. The views from there will be especially spectacular.

The Contemporary Art Museum is another landmark, as it is housed in 17th-century building that took years to renovate because of the archaeological remains below it had to be excavated. You can see them through the glass floor.

Discover Can Marça caves, once used by smugglers. Marvel at surreal stalactites and stalagmites and explore UNESCO-listed Dalt Vila's historic charm. more...

Explore the underwater wonders in the Can Marça caves, a series of caverns that smugglers used to store contraband until the mid-20th century.

Ancient rivers and waterfalls beneath the land’s surface shaped the limestone caves, which are the largest on the island. Geologists estimate that it took 100,000 years to create the underground spectacle and it is magnificent to behold, especially when illuminated with colored lights for added drama. While following the caves’ paths, you will see surreal-looking stalactites and stalagmites, some shaped like fingers and one even shaped like a seated Buddha.

Back above ground, you will enjoy free time in Ibiza’s atmospheric Dalt Vila, a historical walled area of narrow streets, fashionable boutiques and architectural gems such as Almudaina Castle. UNESCO has deemed the acropolis in the Old Town worthy of a World Heritage site designation, as its architecture significantly influenced Spain’s colonial construction in the New World.

Spend several relaxing hours at an organic farm, where you will tour the grounds and participate in workshops that demonstrate how traditional foods are made.

After departing from the pier, you will enjoy a meandering drive to the ecological farm Can Muson on the island’s southern coast. The fruits and vegetables grown here are 100% organic, the details of which you will discover while touring the grounds.

The produce is often sold right out of the fields at Can Muson. Chances are, you will see visitors picking their own produce such as garden lettuce, strawberries and herbs. The organic produce is also used to make traditional culinary products that range from virgin olive oil and tomato sauce to goat cheese and sponge cake.

As you meander about the serene 16-acre farm, you can expect to encounter free-roaming rabbits, chickens, pigs and hens. The animals are bred on the property in humane conditions.

After a thorough tour of Can Muson, you will join a workshop to learn how some of the organic products are made using ancestral methods. One of the most popular workshops will demonstrate how to create Hierbas Ibicencas, a renowned Ibiza spirit made with herbs such as fennel, chamomile, rosemary and sage.

The anise-flavored liqueur is often sipped neat or mixed with cranberry juice, simple sugar and lemon juice in a traditional Ibiza Sunset cocktail.
