Experience the mystic ancient beauty, tradition and art of Thailand during this visit to the Wooden Pavilion.

Depart the pier for the drive to North Pattaya. Upon arrival, you will visit the Wooden Pavilion, also known as the Sanctuary of Truth, a mystical building constructed according to ancient Thai specifications, and the largest wood-carved structure in Thailand.

Designed as a pagoda-shaped pavilion, the building is over 340 feet tall, and a fusion of religion, culture and art. Originally crafted entirely from Thailand's native teak, parts of the Wooden Pavilion have been replaced by the more durable redwood to withstand the ravages of the salt air. Every square inch of the building is covered with intricate and detailed wooden sculptures depicting the Ancient Vision of Earth, Ancient Knowledge and Eastern Philosophy. Once inside, you will have an opportunity to view the cavernous inner chapel, which reveals scenes from Chinese, Hindu and Buddhist traditions.

After exploring the pavilion and surrounding grounds, you will re-board the coach for a drive back to the ship along the beautiful Pattaya Beach Road with a stop to shop at a local store specializing in gems and quality souvenirs.

Discover the popular tourist town of Guadalest, an ancient military stronghold that sits perched at the top of a granite mountain. A scenic 90-minute drive takes you past picturesque villages and winding roads surrounded by spectacular landscapes. The picture-postcard site of the free-standing bell tower and the tunnel that provides access to the old center of Castell de Guadalest greet you on arrival. Both are nestled in a dramatic granite mountaintop setting that leaves a lasting impression.

Follow your guide on a walk through the quaint village streets. The old urban center is located on the top of an outcrop, which is only accessed via a tunnel hollowed into the side of the rock. The area at the top of the rock includes the bell tower, Saint Josep Castle and the recently restored Orduña House which you will visit.

The Orduña House was built after the great earthquake that demolished much of the original housing in Guadalest. One half of the house is supported by the rock while the other half occupies areas over the chapels of the adjoining church. You’ll be surprised to find a house of such greatness in this remote and rural setting. Enjoy some free time to further explore the village on your own the many shops offering a great variety of crafts.

Enjoy exploring two of the region's most charming towns - Villajoyosa, famous for fishing and chocolate, with vividly painted houses and Altea, one of the most beautiful towns of the Costa Blanca which maintains its former fishing village feeling. The old section, atop a hill, offers spectacular views and perfect photo opportunities.

A scenic drive along the coastal road takes you to Villajoyosa, a small seaside town, famous for its fishing and its’ chocolate. Still dependent on its fishing industry, each afternoon the daily catch brought in by the local fishermen is auctioned off in the port. Upon arrival at the seafront, you’ll enjoy free time to explore the town on your own.

Your route to Altea takes you along the coastal road via Albir, providing wonderful views of the sweeping bays of the Costa Blanca. This tour provides you with the perfect opportunity to discover two Mediterranean cities located in the heart of the Costa Blanca and visit a local winery.

Alicante, capital of the Costa Blanca, White Coast, is also known as the Ciudad de la Luz or the City of Light. Arriving in the old quarter, follow your guide on a walking tour. View the 18th century Neo-Baroque town hall, and stop at the Cathedral for a visit. One of the Cathedral’s most notable features is its Renaissance baroque facade. Inside, you’ll discover an impressive 17th century nave and a 15th century cloister.

Travel from Alicante to the city of Novelda to visit its most important historic building, the sanctuary of Santa María Magdalena. The building is a Gaudi inspired design and has been likened to the Sagrada Familia. Enjoy a visit of the wine cellar of a local winery with a short introduction to its history. See the old machinery once used for wine-making and its evolution up until the present day. Here, you’ll also learn about the wine-making process - from the receiving of the grapes, all the way through before being bottled and labeled. At the end of your guided tour, you’ll be invited to taste one of the wines produced here.

This definitive tour of Kaohsiung presents attractions that reveal the very fabric of life in this thriving southern Taiwanese city. You’ll travel to the massive Spring and Autumn Pavilions, a complex completed in 1951 and embrace the breathtaking sight that shows the importance of legend in Taiwanese culture.

As religious expression is very prevalent in Kaohsiung you’ll also visit two of its most popular Taiwanese temples, the Confucius Temple and Chiming Tang. Completed in 1976, the Confucius Temple is Taiwan's largest Confucian temple and expresses a deep reverence for China's beloved sage. Chiming Tang was constructed in the 1970s. Several different gods are worshipped here, including humanized gods of influential historic figures, such as Confucius.

Head to the Chijin Old Street for a glimpse of daily life in Kaohsiung and where the city was first developed. Colorful, ornate temples such as the 300-year-old Tian Ho abound, and the many small shops are always abuzz. As you stroll along the street exploring the many sights, shops and stands, you will no doubt feel the friendly townspeople and the inviting ambience that is found here.

Get acquainted with the city of Alicante, a vibrant and popular Spanish resort town in the heart of the Mediterranean’s white coast. Before being invaded by thousands of sun seekers, the city attracted conquerors and traders like the Greek, Phoenicians, Carthaginians and finally the Romans, who named it Lucentum or City of Light.

We will then continue our panoramic tour along the coastal road of Alicante city seeing the Albufera and San Juan beaches as well as passing by the historic sta Faz sanctuary where your guide will explain to you about the annual romery parade.

A famous spot for locals and visitors to the city is the Explanada, a beautiful promenade that stretches around the marina. It’s lined with color tiles representing the waves of the Mediterranean Sea and lined with palm trees and often filled with small market stalls. Stop to try a traditional horchata, a refreshing drink made from tigernuts, water and sugar.

    OVERVIEW

Float down the Cetina River in an inflatable tube and enjoy an exhilarating ride as the river winds through the forested hinterlands. On the drive inland, you will get a glimpse of the natural wonders, which are plentiful. The landscape will become even more beautiful and lush as you approach the river, which flows from its source in the foothills of the Dinara Mountains all the way to the Adriatic Sea. After a briefing to ensure that you maximize the experience, you will ease into your own river tube and begin floating along with the current. You can expect to float through gentle drifts, over moderate rapids and down stretches where the water flows faster. The only sounds will be those of nature, especially birds. Be sure to look for black woodpeckers, northern goshawks and grey wagtails, a species much more colorful than its name suggests as its underside is lemon yellow.

    HIGHLIGHTS

    • Ease into an inflatable tube and float down the meandering Cetina River.
    • Enjoy the serenity of the forest and the thrill of riding the ever-changing current.
    • Admire the natural beauty and look for wildlife, especially colorful birds.

    OVERVIEW

Stroll through Paradise Nature Park, a tropical garden full of exotic plants and animals. You will be free to meander about wherever you please, and there is plenty to see in the five-acre park. If you want to focus on the flora, you might walk through the orchid house and the orchard, where you can see pineapples and dragon fruit flourishing. Animals are also abundant. You can expect to encounter brightly colored parrots in the aviary, koi fish in the ponds, green iguanas in the trees, red-footed tortoises and cute little pygmy goats. Some of the animals are lesser known but no less fascinating. For instance, you may see the kunekunes, a small breed of pigs from New Zealand that are known for their intelligence and friendly nature. The miniature Mediterranean donkeys – which are now almost extinct in their native Sicily and Sardinia – are also favorites because of their sweet temperaments.

    HIGHLIGHTS

    • Spend hours walking about Paradise Nature Park at your leisure.
    • See a huge variety of plants, both indigenous and introduced species.
    • Observe the many animals, which range from flamingoes to donkeys to rabbits.

    OVERVIEW

Cruise through the mangroves around Harvest Caye on a Funcat electric catamaran that allows you to stretch out comfortably on the lounge seat and really enjoy the scenery. The covered catamaran has room for two, so you can be the captain or the passenger. Although you will be briefed on how to operate the catamaran, there’s really not much to it. Just use the controls on the armrest to go forward or backward. Steering is a breeze, too. Best of all, the catamaran is solar-powered, so there are no emissions and little noise from the electric engine. That way, you can come remarkably close to the wildlife without disturbing the animals in the mangrove-lined saltwater estuaries. Water birds are especially prevalent, so look for egrets, teals and ducks. The mangroves provide a highly protective habitat for birds and their complex root system serves as a nursery for marine life.

    HIGHLIGHTS

    • Motor through the mangrove-lined estuaries in a solar-powered electric catamaran.
    • Captain the two-person catamaran, be the passenger or switch places if you like.
    • Look for wildlife, especially water birds, in the protected mangroves.

Explore the medieval streets of Piran on your own while taking advantage of reduced pricing at select destinations. During the spectacularly scenic drive there, you will pause for photos in Izola, a seaside town known for its traditional red-tiled roofs and a strong fishing heritage. At the tip of a narrow peninsula nearby, you will find Piran, a walled city with a wonderfully preserved Old Town. You will be free to wander about as you please, but you may wish to drop by the attractions that are offering incentives, such as half-off admission to the Museum of Underwater Activities. That same generous discount applies to ice cream at Karamela and espresso at Karvana Piran, a coffee shop on historical Tartini Square. The landmark Gothic-style Venetian House has dominated that public plaza since the mid-15th century. The First of May Square, which dates to the Middle Ages, is also well worth a look.

    OVERVIEW

Follow a winding trail through a dense rainforest and across sky-walk bridges that will present a unique perspective of the vibrant ecosystem. A naturalist guide will lead the way along a circuitous natural path that crosses several hanging suspension bridges, the highest being about 165 feet above the forest floor. It will be a thrill to walk across and look straight down into the deep ravine below. The naturalist will point out and describe the exotic fauna, which includes monkeys in the tree canopy and butterflies flitting about the flowering vegetation. Frogs are plentiful, including the blue-jeans frog. This species is easy to identify because of its bright-red color, except from the waist down – which is blue, as if it is wearing jeans. Colorful birds are also abundant, including toucans, motmots and trogons. Even if trogons aren’t present, you will likely observe their nests in the cavities of dead trees.

    HIGHLIGHTS

    • Walk high in the rainforest along a trail that passes over several suspended skywalk bridges.
    • Look for wildlife in the tree canopy such as monkeys, tropical birds and exotic frogs.
    • Observe other wildlife at different elevations, such as coatis and kinkajous on the forest floor.

    OVERVIEW

Your journey begins with a narrated tour of downtown Juneau, highlighting the city’s landmarks and rich cultural past as you head towards the Mendenhall Valley. Your first stop is the historic Brotherhood Bridge, where you’ll enjoy spectacular views of the valley and, weather permitting, the Mendenhall Glacier off in the distance. This bridge holds significant cultural and historical importance, symbolizing the bridging of the gap between Native and Non-Native communities and overcoming racial tensions. Adorned with ten bronze medallions featuring the Alaska Native Brotherhood (ANB) crest, sculpted by Roy Peratrovich Jr. in honor of the ANB’s 50th anniversary, the bridge depicts the two great Tlingit moieties—Eagle and Raven—emphasizing the ANB’s foundational role in their shared heritage. Afterward your drive takes you to Juneau's Macaulay Salmon Hatchery and Visitor Center. There you will learn the value of ocean ranching to Juneau's commercial and sport fishing industries and the hatchery's role in keeping the area salmon population at sustainable levels.

    OVERVIEW

Cruise a crystal-clear lagoon just offshore and snorkel through an underwater sculpture garden before continuing on to idyllic Cook’s Bay. You will travel aboard a double-deck catamaran that is spacious and immensely comfortable. There are also plenty of open areas for sunbathing. OVERVIEW

Savor your choice of Japan’s legendary waygu beef or fresh seafood for lunch and explore a Shinto shrine dedicated to Emperor Meiji the Great, who led Japan from a feudal state into a world power. To reach the serene shrine, which nestles in a forested park, you will walk through its towering torii gate, which is made from cypress that is 1,500 years old. As a contrast, you will also stroll past the luxury boutiques along the avenue Omotesando and participate in a Shibuya scramble crossing, in which pedestrians flood an intersection from all directions once all the traffic lights turn red. One of the entrée choices for the gourmet meal that follows is extraordinarily tender, richly flavored Grade 5A waygu beef slices over rice. Or if you prefer, try the sushi, sashimi and grilled fish plate that showcases the bounty of Tokyo’s seafood. The accompanying side dishes and dessert will be equally memorable.

    HIGHLIGHTS

    • Dine on incredibly tender and flavorful wagyu beef or opt for an inspiring seafood plate.
    • Choose from a variety of traditional side dishes and desserts.
    • Visit a Shinto shrine in a forested park.
    • Participate in a scramble crossing where the pedestrians all cross an intersection at once.
    • See the statue of Hachikō, an Akita dog that was famously loyal to its owner.
