OVERVIEW

Become wholly immersed in the world of green sea turtles at a one-of-a-kind facility that holds literally thousands of these marine creatures in various stages of maturity. At the aptly named Cayman Turtle Centre, you will see more green sea turtles - the largest of the hard-shelled sea turtles - than you ever thought possible. You can watch massive turtles weighing up to 500 pounds in the breeding pond, touch other turtles in the wading pools and even swim with yearlings in the saltwater lagoon. You might also learn about the conservation efforts that have successfully released more than 34,000 turtles bred at the facility into the ocean. As a bonus, you may observe sharks and barracudas in the Predator Reef habitat and a 300-pound Cayman crocodile named Smiley leap into the air to grab a chunk of raw meat for lunch. Tropical birds such as peafowl and Cayman parrots are also plentiful.
