WWII Wrecks. Blue Holes.
Formed by volcanoes, Luganville (known simply as “Santo” by the locals) is the second largest city in the island nation of Vanuatu and is home to beautiful beaches, towering mountains, natural blue holes and fascinating WWII history. One of the top dive sites in the world is only a few hundred feet offshore, the SS President Coolidge, a troop-carrier that sunk in 1942. At the Cultural Activity Park, Vanuatu culture can be experienced through dance, music, wood carving and other demonstrations. For a taste of native cuisine, Vanuatu’s beef is notably tender. Fresh seafood is another staple, from prawns to the Poulet fish.
