OVERVIEW

Browse an avant-garde home built atop an old lava field and sample wines whose terroir reflects the island’s volcanic soil. Now a museum, the breathtaking Volcano House was once the residence of the late Arrecife-born artist César Manrique. It was built within a series of natural volcanic bubbles interconnected by tunnels excavated in the hardened lava. Chances are, you haven’t seen anything like this unusual home, which exemplifies Manrique’s vision of architecture being in harmony with the natural environment. His paintings and pieces by other Spanish masters such as Picasso and Miró on displayed throughout the property.

Manrique also left his mark on the Winery Stratvs. We will visit it´s cutting edge wine cellar and laboratories embedded in high modern architecture that maintains the local spirit and culture. We will learn everything about the unique wine growing technique that has been developed in Lanzarote and created a breath-taking landscape that has been rewarded by the New York Museum of Modern Art as an “entire artwork” in the 1960´s. Of course, you will taste their wines, variations of its award-winning wines will help to perceive the wide range of its natural and exotic flavors at the restaurant El Aljibe del Obispo, located inside the Winery. After the visit we will enjoy a traditional lunch at "Aljibe del Obispo" Restaurant. EL ALJIBE DEL OBISPO Fundamentally traditional products produced locally at the “Finca de Uga”. Delicious food prepared from sustainable ingredients and produced with love and care based on the beloved menus passed down from our Mothers and Grandmothers . Irresistible traditional dishes such as watercress and local cheese salad, rabbit with aubergine, courgette and tomatoes, the exquisite “parmigiana”, delicious potajes and rich broths are all produced and served with care and consideration. The menu has been created perfectly so as to be paired beautifully with the volcanic wines from the Stratvs Bodega.
