View the city of Roseau from a 400 foot elevation before continuing to the Botanical Gardens to see some of the world’s most exotic trees and rare birds - the Sisserou and Jaco parrots. Continue on to the village of Trafalgar and to Trafalgar Falls, one of Dominica’s most fascinating and picturesque areas. You'll have a unique view of the falls, as it cascades side by side out of deep gorges. Your guide will lead you on a 10 minute trek to the viewing platform of these majestic waterfalls.

Next, pass through the city of Roseau, traveling up the Springfield Valley to Trois Pitons National Park. You'll soon arrive at the Emerald Pool for a 15 minute trek through the rainforest to the 40 foot cascading waterfall, the Emerald Pool.

Get to know unspoiled Dominica on this exciting journey as you discover not one, but two impressive waterfalls and the famous Sulphur Springs. Board your air-conditioned transportation at the pier and head north along the west coast before turning east on the Imperial Road passing fern covered hillsides. Enjoy a clear view of citrus crops, banana plantations, and beautiful flowers along the winding road up to Pond Case and into the Morne Trois Piton National Park. Disembark your bus for a 20 minute hike along a relatively flat but uneven trail to visit the beautiful 80 foot Twin Falls. You’ll spend approximately thirty minutes here enjoying the breathtaking scenery. Take an optional refreshing dip in the cool mountain water.

Re-board your transportation and drive back along the Layou Valley road toward Roseau. Drive through Independence Street to Chez Ophelia, a homey bed and breakfast nestled on the tranquil mountainside, for a refreshing drink and restroom break. Then proceed to the village of Wotton Waven to visit the Sulphur springs. When active, these springs come alive in a spectacular bubbling motion, spewing volcanic hot water in the air. After approximately 20 minutes at the hot springs, proceed to Trafalgar Falls. Upon arrival at the base, take a 5 minute walk up the trail until you arrive at the viewing platform above the river. Enjoy the beauty of the falls cascading into a deep pool surrounded by lush green ferns. Before returning to your ship, you'll travel through the Botanical Gardens and onto Morne Bruce for a photo stop above the entire town of Roseau.

Board your bus and depart the pier passing the historic 16th century Old Market Plaza and two of the largest and oldest - 18th century churches on the island. You'll drive up to Morne Bruce for a panoramic view of the entire town of Roseau. A five minute drive will take you to the Botanical Gardens, an attractive 40 acre expansion adorned with exotic plants from every part of the tropical world. Experience a short and interesting tour in a relaxing atmosphere before you drive through the community of St. Aroment. Beautiful flora and interesting French architectural designs adorn this prestigious community.

Driving along the main coastal road you'll pass Woodbridge Bay onto Fond Cole before entering Canefield, home of one of the two airports and the main industrial area. The tour continues with a drive through Canefield East from which you will get a panoramic view of the entire industrial site and airport, before arriving at the Old Mill Cultural Center for drinks and convenience. This cultural center is one of Dominica's historic landmarks and was the island's first sugarcane processing mill and rum distillery. Today, it's a place to learn about Dominica's traditions. Performances and events including art exhibits and cultural programs take place here throughout the year.

A short 15 minute drive south of Roseau takes you through the picturesque village of Pointe Michel to the Irie Safari's watersports facility at Champagne. Champagne is Dominica's premier diving and snorkeling site. Underwater geothermal springs vent gasses in the form of thousands of warm bubbles giving you a feeling of swimming through a giant glass of Champagne. The reef here is quite spectacular where you can expect to see a myriad of sea life including sponges, lobster, parrot fish and a resident population of Hawksbill turtles.

Upon arrival at the watersports center, you’ll be outfitted with snorkeling gear and given an orientation. The tour of the reef is led by a professional PADI certified "Dive master" who will instruct you on the correct use of your gear and brief you on what you are likely to see and experience once in the water. Imagine hiking down through the rainforest to a secret waterfall that drops off into a hidden canyon beneath the sunlit forest canopy. Seven spectacular, hidden waterfalls drop through a steep canyon that runs between Titou Gorge and the top of Trafalgar Falls. After getting geared up at Extreme Dominica’s headquarters, you’ll attend a mandatory briefing to learn how to harness up and rappel down the side of a wall.

Then jump in the jeep and it’s off to the secret site. Your heart will be in your mouth as you peer over the top of that first rushing waterfall roaring over the edge into the shadowy abyss. Away you go as your legs are braced against the waterfall wall as pure, cold water cascades all around. Let out the rope with your right hand and slowly descend, step by step, into a new world. Soft green light filters down the cliff walls of this hidden gorge to the deep, pristine pool waiting far down in the heart of the river. Your heart finally stops pounding as you touch down into the first of a series of incredible crystal-clear pools descending down along the canyon bed. Six more waterfalls await you, ending up appropriately at the seventh, magnificent Cathedral Falls. A short hike out leaves this secret world behind.

Upon arrival at a haven in the hills, take a short walk down a flight of natural steps to the open air pools for a 30 minute hot mineral bath, direct from an underground source. You can lounge in the shade for a few minutes on the handmade bamboo benches, inhaling the fresh cool mountain breeze then cap off your experience with some healthy, freshly cut coconut water. Then, travel to Laudat Village, the eco-tourism center of Dominica that boasts six natural sites. At Dead Man's Chest, you have the option of swimming between the mountains to discover a crystal clear waterfall or sit and be massaged by the hot water stream.

Your tour departs the quayside heading for historical Morne Bruce, accompanied by your experienced tour guide. Turn inland onto the Imperial Road passing fern covered hillsides along the winding road up to Pond Casse’. From Pond Casse’ you’ll drive up to Morne Trois Piton National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the Emerald Pool. The 10 minute walk along the tarish-covered trail through plants, flowers and ferns leading towards the pool is the best introduction to this tropical rain forest. It’s a small pool fed by a delicate cascade which plunges off the edge of a fern-covered cliff. You’ll enjoy the refreshing environment of this cool, crystal clear grotto. You may also take a refreshing dip, if you wish. Continue down to Coye's Place, a homely little restaurant and bar for refreshments and rest-room facilities. You’ll head back to Roseau, via the Layou Valley and the west coast villages and back to the ship.

Your excursion begins at the quayside as you join your guide for a drive through the bustling streets of Roseau, to one of Dominica’s most popular and visited attractions, Trafalgar Falls. Head out on an approximate 10 minute walk to the Layou River for your tubing adventure. Enjoy the rush of excitement as you cascade downwards and maneuver through the challenges of the bubbling rapids and descend to the calm of the pools. A 30 to 40 minute drive brings you to the launch site for a safety briefing and to receive your life vest, inner tube and paddle before entering the river. You'll begin your journey, gently spinning and swirling in the current and encounter a few mild rapids along the way.
