Are service charges/gratituties manatory?

Are service charges/tips mandatory? Just received notice tips are going up & to receive old tip amounts must be paid by 4/01/2018. Why should I pay in advance for service not yet received? I booked my cruise 6 months ago at rate posted then.

The DSC is mandatory but can be adjusted. Tips are 100% optional (other than on a few of the packages (SDP/UBP). Please read these two pages. DSC: https://www.ncl.com/faq#service-charge Tipping: https://www.ncl.com/faq#tipping DSC and tipping are two different things.

Does ship provide beach towels or should I bring mine?

You don't need to take beach towels. They are available in your stateroom. You have to take them with you if you are using the pool and you can exchange them for fresh set when you have used them. You can take the towels on the beaches but you are responsible for them. If you lose them, you will be charged for the towels.

Do I need voltage converters to charge cell phones, cameras or tablets in the stateroom?

All staterooms have 110 & 220 V outlets. You won't need a voltage converter. The ships have also started to add USB power outlets to charge your phone and tablets.

Reservations for Included Dining Rooms

I know reservations are needed at the specialty restaurants. Is it possible to make a reservation at the included dining rooms, Grand Pacific and Alizar, so we don't have to wait if there's a long line?

Yes, you can make reservations for the dining rooms but, as the hostess told someone in line before me, all it does it guarantee a table. You still need to wait in line with everyone else. I never made reservations and never waited.

How do four people sleep in room 5020 on the Norwegian Jade?

We have two adults and two teenage children. What are the bed arrangements in this room? The photograph only shows beds for three people.

Each stateroom has two full sized beds that can be pushed together to make a queen sized bed. Depending on the type of room and the room configuration, the third and fourth guests will either sleep on 2 bunk beds attached to the wall or sofa bed or a combination of bunk bed and roll away beds or a sofa bed. Your stateroom steward will open the beds in the evening and close them up in the morning.

The internet cafe has a few desktops. You can use it if you need to print airline confirmation documents, etc. You can use the minutes you purchased to use the internet,

What are the on board activities?

When we travelled on Sky there was an all white party, there were game shows, barbecues and other events that took place on the ship. I was wondering what activities were planned so as to make sure we pack costumes and such if necessary.

The activities onboard the ship will be about the same of what you expected. There is no way to say what kind of activities they will have because the activities are planned by the cruise director and the entertainment staff onboard the ship. If you are travelling during holidays or during Halloween there will be themed parties.

Are there clothing irons and ironing boards in staterooms?

No. Due to fire hazard issues, the staterooms do not have clothes iron and you are not allowed to bring irons on board the ship. However, you can request the Guest Services Desk or the cabin stewards they will be happy to bring you an iron and ironing board for a few hours. Since steamers have a heating element, they fall in the same category as irons and cannot be brought onboard the ship.
