Go Local - Rhodes Traditional Inland Villages

Your shore excursion has been designed to provide you with an inside look of the lives of the locals living in the inland villages. Boarding your coach you will proceed inland on a scenic road that takes you up and over pine forests to the village of Eleousa the main occupation of its inhabitants was farming, olive oil makers & shepherds . At Eleousa we will taste fresh brewed Mountain tea at "Kafeneion" just like the locals.Departing from Eleousa you will pass by the old Italian sanatorium, Platania village until you reach until you reach Apollona village . Upon arrival we will visit the traditional village bakery that still produces bread with Sour dough and baked in wood fire oven, your guide will provide you with local insights. The village of Salakos is our next destination. You will head northwest towards the village of Salakos passing through olive oil fields , wineries and pine forests. At Salakos square we have prepared a dolmades preparation and tasting, you guide will provide you with the traditional method of preparing this dish. Deaprting Salakos village you will proceed north and pass by the valley of the butterflies until you reach the “souma distillery “ for Souma tasting and a Rodian style BBQ before your return to the Port.
