Enjoy Patagonian hospitality and an exciting day of country living at one of the most important local estancias. A scenic drive crossing the endless pampa (treeless grassland) brings you to this 100 year-old cattle ranch. It was established by sheep farmers in the middle of the vast Patagonian pampas and today, the estancia has opened its doors to a limited amount of visitors to demonstrate the art of living of these staunch farmers. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by the hospitable, expert sheep farmers who have made this region famous, they will show you the different activities of the farm. You’ll be amazed seeing machinery used by the first colonists of the area still in use, in addition to the well trained dogs. You’ll be taken into the barn for a demonstration of sheep shearing. Try the traditional welcome drink, a Pisco Sour, as well as local appetizer baked empanadas. Enjoy a barbecue of tasty Patagonian lamb, which has been grilled slowly for hours, accompanied by vegetables and salad. After lunch you’ll have free time to enjoy the farm and getting to know more about the life of the inhabitants of the Patagonian pampas.

Explore Fort Bulnes, the first Chilean settlement by the Magellan straight, 62 km (38 mi) south of Punta Arenas and enjoy majestic views of the straight.
Stop at Cerro de la Cruz, a viewpoint from where you’ll see how the city of Punta Arenas looks today, and imagine what Ferdinand Magellan saw when he was there.
Head south on a scenic road always skirting the Strait of Magellan to Fort Bulnes, the first Chilean settlement in Patagonia, founded in 1843 with only 21 inhabitants. After an approximately 1-hour ride, you’ll reach this national monument, originally built to protect Southern Chile and the Strait of Magellan from claims by other countries. The reconstructed fort shows you how these first men and women lived on this rugged land. See the church, chaplain's quarters, jail, powder magazine, post office and stables, along with the explanations of your guide. Enjoy one of the most majestic views of the strait from Punta Santa Ana and free time for pictures or getting some souvenirs.

Learn about the life of the forefathers of the present inhabitants of Punta Arenas, the enormous fortunes that were created in this part of Patagonia, and the legacy these hard working men and women left behind. A sightseeing drive around this bustling frontier town, the capital of the Magallanes Region, introduces you to the area. Discover the charm of this most southerly city situated by the Strait of Magellan. Head to the local cemetery where you’ll discover the story of these wealthy families. Cross this pioneer’s resting place, with avenues lined by tall cypress and splendid mausoleums towards the tomb of Sara Braun, the richest woman in Patagonia, and learn about her amazing life. Drive to the Cerro de la Cruz, a lookout point with a spectacular panoramic view of the city, the strait the legendary Tierra del Fuego Island. Stop at Plaza de Armas, the main square, and visit the Braun mansion, a national monument designed and built by a renowned French architect in 1906. The well preserved mansion is an example of how the affluent families lived at the turn of the century; it contains all of its original furniture, decor and memorabilia. Continue to visit the old warehouses area of the sheep farmers where you will listen to the epic story of the settlement of Punta Arenas. Enjoy a traditional Chilean pisco sour, accompanied by a tasty snack while a local demonstration takes place.

Travel back in time during this “Voyage to the Past” and learn about the saga lived by the fearless navigators and explorers of the region and first inhabitants of Tierra del Fuego. Discover the charm of this most southerly city, situated by the Strait of Magellan.
It was 1519 when the Magellan expedition left Spain, determined to find the waterway to the East Indies. They set on of the most extreme adventures of mankind, sailing for more than three years over unknown oceans and uncharted territories.
Visit the Nao Victoria, a full-size replica of Magellan’s ship. It recreates its entire structural features with historical accuracy and offers visitors the opportunity to live an intense experience, through surround sound and interactive replicas.
Stop to visit the Maggiorino Borgatello Museum, founded by the Salesian missionaries, which gives a comprehensive overview of the regional flora and fauna, the habitat of the indigenous people and regional history.
Drive to Cerro la Cruz, and enjoy the same view of the Magellan Strait, the port and the legendary Tierra del Fuego Island, that Ferdinand Magellan had when he was there. Stop for a few minutes at Plaza de Armas, the main square, before going back to the pier.

A privately chartered vessel takes you to one of Chile’s largest penguin colonies. Located on Magdalena Island, the site was declared a natural monument in 1982. Board the boat for an approximately 1 ½ hour journey along the Strait of Magellan.
You’ll have about one hour on the island to observe the Magellan penguins in their natural habitat. A large colony of penguins nest and breed here, each year between October and March. They bury their eggs in sandy burrows and under shrubs; at this time of year most of the chicks will have hatched. They’re naturally curious and untamed - if approached too quickly they will scamper off. Following ample time to observe the birds, you’ll walk back to the ferry for your journey back to Punta Arenas. A boxed lunch is included.

There are different ways of knowing a city, but undoubtedly, a walking tour gets you closer to the locals, and to seeing things from a different perspective. Punta Arenas is a city of hard-working immigrants who have struggled against the harsh nature of this southerly, end-of-the-world land.
Transfer to Bulnes Avenue, to begin your walk from one of the symbols of Patagonia and Punta Arenas, El Ovejero, the Shepherd monument, in honor of the typical working men of the local estancias or sheep farms. Walk by the famous local cemetery towards Maggiorino Borgatello Museum, founded by the Salesian missionaries. It offers a comprehensive overview of the regional flora and fauna, the habitat of the indigenous people and regional history.
Head to Bories street, the main street in downtown, and reach "Plaza de Armas", the main square, where you’ll find the imposing monument to Ferdinand Magellan, looking towards the strait. Main public buildings such as the town hall and the Union Club frame Plaza de Armas, together with the houses and palaces of the local founders.
You’ll go up to Cerro de la Cruz, a lookout point with a spectacular panoramic view of the city and the strait; a perfect place to take one of the best pictures of your trip. Enjoy a snack of local favorites at a pioneer house, refurbished and transformed into a cafeteria.

Navigate the legendary Strait of Magellan on a two-person sea kayak. Transfer by motor coach approximately 17 miles south to the Agua Fresca Bay area. Upon arrival, you’ll receive a short briefing on how to use your double kayak, how to paddle in tandem, along with safety instructions and a semi dry suit.
During this adventurous ride you’ll experience direct contact with nature and water, navigate among local birds such as seagulls or ducks and you may even be joined by the friendly austral dolphins that seasonally migrate here. After approximately 1 hour of kayaking, refreshments will be served and you’ll have a chance to change into your dry clothes before you return to the pier.
