OVERVIEW

Stroll through Helsingborg, a wonderful mixture of contemporary buildings and historical landmarks dating back to medieval times. You will walk along Norra Hamnen, a former industrial dock that has been redeveloped to include a shop-lined esplanade, on the way to the Henry Dunker Culture Centre, a modern building designed with two curved roofs that are evocative of ocean waves. In the main square of Stortorget, you will find the neo-Gothic town hall, whose stained-glass windows depict key events in Helsingborg’s history. Stained-glass windows are also a prominent feature in the 13-century Church of St. Mary, and if the sun is shining through them during your visit, the interior will look even more glorious. Still, no building is more emblematic of Helsingborg than the hilltop medieval keep or Kärnan of its former castle, where you will pause for photos. Another highlight is the half-timbered houses that line Helsingborg’s oldest pedestrian-only street.
