Seal Bay Discovery

A scenic drive across the interior native bush land of Kangaroo Island takes you to beautiful Seal Bay on the southern coast. More than a third of the island is devoted to parkland, and Seal Bay offers the unusual opportunity to walk the Seal Bay boardwalk and see a colony of Australian Sea Lions in their natural environment. Highly endangered, they are the world's rarest sea lion, but easy to recognize by their blunt, dog-like snout and ear flaps. You’ll have approximately 1 1/2-hours to watch and photograph these furry creatures basking in the sun and frolicking in the water.

A different sort of natural attraction awaits you at the Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, a throwback to the days when distilling eucalyptus oil was one of Kangaroo Island's chief industries. While at the factory and shops, you'll watch a video presentation and commentary from the local masters, and have time to browse for a variety of local products scented with eucalyptus.
