OVERVIEW

Relax on a secluded stretch of sand at a beachfront hotel before heading into Puerto Viejo to browse the shops. The hotel grounds are so lushly landscaped with palms, flowers and exotic plants that it resembles a botanical garden. The beach is just as magnificent, as it rims a rainforest. While there, you will be free to spend your time however you please. You might do nothing more ambitious than bask in the sun or relax in the shade with a favorite book in hand. Or you may prefer to stroll from one end of the beach to the other, often in places where the only footprints will be yours. The water is typically calm and crystal-clear, making it difficult if not impossible to resist a refreshing swim.
