OVERVIEW

Settle in for a leisurely and immensely panoramic drive around Montevideo before traveling inland to a winery where you can create your own blend of wine. Uruguay’s engaging capital was founded in 1726 and Montevideo exudes history, especially in Old Town. A more bucolic landscape lies north of the city in the Canelones region, where wine grapes such as Tannat have been grown since the 1870s. As you will discover at one of the premium family-owned wineries, the conditions are similar to those in France’s famed Bordeaux region. With an enologist as your guide, you will join a small team and create a special blend of red wine from three varietals, each one with unique characteristics. The key is to determine the best percentage of each varietal to blend into your own personalized wine, a bottle of which you will receive. A three-course meal paired with other Uruguayan wines will follow.
