Unique Volcanic Landscapes

Islas Canarias, as they are called in Spain, are located off the coast of Africa and Europe, and are part of a larger collection of volcanic archipelagos known as Macaronesia. The islands were formed millions of years ago when volcanic eruptions pushed mountains above the ocean’s surface. The resulting peaks, with heights reaching up to 4,000 feet, boast unforgettable views and some of the best star gazing in the world. The region is home to four national parks, two renowned observatories, live underwater volacnoes, seven Biosphere Reserves, and flora and fauna so rare it's found only in this part of the world.
