OVERVIEW

Discover the character and traditions of Edam through its celebrated cheese heritage, historic streets and a personal visit with a local family. Begin with a visit to a local cheese farm, where you will learn about the cheese-making process and have an opportunity to purchase cheese. Continue to Edam for a guided walk through its picturesque streets while learning about the town’s history, shipbuilding traditions and famous cheese market. A more intimate experience follows as you step inside one of Edam’s oldest homes, dating to the 16th century and retaining many of its original features. Meet the local family and gain a glimpse into life in the Netherlands while enjoying a cup of coffee or tea and a piece of apple pie. After your visit, walk back to the coach for the return journey to the ship.

Note: This tour involves approximately 2.5 km of walking over uneven surfaces, and guests must be able to enter and exit the coach independently. It is not recommended to guests who utilize a wheelchair. Those guests with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of ability and stamina. Coaches do not have a lift, and entering and exiting must be done via stairs. The visit to the local family is upon request and takes place in a historic 16th-century home. Comfortable clothing and walking shoes are recommended. The order of activities may vary.
