The Zadar area was first settled in the Neolithic period and since then, it has succumbed to numerous invasions from different civilizations. Your walking tour begins in the heart of the magnificent Old Town and includes a visit to the Cathedral of St. Anastasia, the finest example of Romanesque architecture in Zadar. Along the way you'll pass the Church of St. Donatus, believed to have been built by Bishop Donatus on Roman foundations at the beginning of the 9th century. See St. Mary’s Church with a Romanesque bell-tower built at the beginning of the 12th century by the Hungarian – Croatian King Koloman. You’ll see many treasures along the way.
