Experience the Damajagua waterfalls in every way imaginable with a local guide leading the adventure. A hike through a jungle-like landscape will bring you to the waterfalls, whose source is the Damajagua River, a cool mountain stream. This breathtaking natural wonder contains numerous cascades of varying heights. You will jump off some of the waterfalls, negotiate other ones by sliding down slick rock chutes and swim in the sparkling pools at the base of all of them. Wooden walkways and steps connect many of the cascades, allowing you access that would be impossible otherwise. The river is known for its beautiful blue hue as it spills out of the mountains and carves its way through the rocky terrain. Steep limestone canyons line much of the Damajagua, making the scenery all the more memorable.

Race through the tropical countryside in an open-air, off-road buggy for an exhilarating experience between stops at several top attractions. You will have the chance to test drive the buggy beforehand so you will feel comfortable whether at the wheel or as the passenger. Then, it’s off into the wilds, where you will drive down country lanes, past rivers and into isolated areas that most visitors never see. If it has rained recently, the ride will be even more fun because your caravan of vehicles can zip through long stretches of muddy dirt roads. In time, you will stop to tour a farm that grows coffee, cocoa for chocolate and tropical produce such as mangoes and carambola, the national fruit of the Dominican Republic. Free time at the beach will follow, during which you can lounge about as you wish, stroll the shore and enjoy an invigorating swim in the sea.

While away the hours enjoying an exclusive beach on Playa Dorada, one of the area’s most beautiful stretches of sand. It won’t take long to reach Playa Dorada, which will give you all the more time to luxuriate there. With a welcome drink in hand, you can become oriented with everything this beautiful beach has to offer. During the next four hours or so, you might lie back in a lounge chair and bask in the sun, take a leisurely stroll along the shore and ease into the water for a refreshing swim. Playa Dorada is a Blue Flag beach, a prestigious designation only awarded to beaches that are clean and eco-friendly. Around midday, a buffet lunch will be served. One of the main dishes will likely be Dominican fried chicken, which is exceptionally flavorful and tender because the chicken is first brined and then generously seasoned.

OVERVIEW

Experience the outdoors in unusual ways that bring you much closer to nature. A visit to Monkeyland will literally put you in touch with nature because the resident squirrel monkeys have been trained to eat right out of your hand. Bright-eyed and intelligent, these slender monkeys are exceptionally social creatures and will and climb up on your shoulders, if allowed. You will interact with nature in a more physical way at Damajagua Falls, a series of cascades that you will reach by walking up a jungle-enshrouded river bed. Upon reaching a deep pool at the bottom of one of the remarkably blue cascades, you will be welcome to swim. Or you may opt to simply rest on a boulder along the shore and admire the scenery.
