Can Marça Caves

DETAILS

Explore the underwater wonders in the Can Marça caves, a series of caverns that smugglers used to store contraband until the mid-20th century.

Ancient rivers and waterfalls beneath the land’s surface shaped the limestone caves, which are the largest on the island. Geologists estimate that it took 100,000 years to create the underground spectacle and it is magnificent to behold, especially when illuminated with colored lights for added drama. While following the caves’ paths, you will see surreal-looking stalactites and stalagmites, some shaped like fingers and one even shaped like a seated Buddha.

Back above ground, you will enjoy free time in Ibiza’s atmospheric Dalt Vila, a historical walled area of narrow streets, fashionable boutiques and architectural gems such as Almudaina Castle. UNESCO has deemed the acropolis in the Old Town worthy of a World Heritage site designation, as its architecture significantly influenced Spain’s colonial construction in the New World.
