    OVERVIEW

Zip through the Bay of Kotor in a sleek speedboat to three locales named for the Virgin Mary. As the engine roars to life and the speedboat races up the bay, the thrills will begin in earnest. You will soon disembark at the baroque-style Our Lady’s Temple in the village of Prčanj. The serene setting will offer quite the contrast to the exhilaration of the ride. Ornate columns adorn the temple façade, the entry features a glorious double staircase and the two gilded altars are masterworks. The boat ride will continue to Our Lady of the Rocks, a miniscule manmade islet with a chapel renowned for its 15th-century icon of the Virgin Mary and a Carrara marble altar. One last tribute to the Virgin Mary awaits – Our Lady of the Angels, a centuries-old church within a fortified complex that once protected the bay from pirates. After browsing the interior, you will snack on canapés.

    HIGHLIGHTS

    • Race through the Bay of Kotor in a speedboat and enjoy the natural beauty.
    • Visit three Christian landmarks named to honor the Virgin Mary.
    • Browse Our Lady’s Temple, Our Lady of the Rocks chapel and Our Lady of the Angels church.

Paddle a two-person kayak around the sheltered waters of Sitka Sound, an area teeming with wildlife. After an orientation and a few minutes to practice paddling, you will skirt along the stunningly beautiful coastline. The guide will lead the way and acquaint you with the marine environment. The backdrop of towering forest-blanketed mountains will be absolutely inspiring, much like it was when the indigenous Tlingits first settled this area about 10,000 years ago. If the weather is clear, you will see Mount Edgecumbe, a massive but dormant volcano that dominates Kruzof Island. While scanning the water’s surface, you may spot Stellar sea lions, harbor seals and porpoise. Humpback whales voraciously feed in the sound before migrating to Hawaii to breed and calve, and the sight of one breaching the water is a mesmerizing spectacle. Be sure to look skyward as bald eagles and tufted puffins are commonly sighted.

    HIGHLIGHTS

    • Paddle a two-person kayak through the sheltered bays and inlets along Sitka Sound.
    • Paddle a two-person kayak through the sheltered bays and inlets along Sitka Sound.
    • Enjoy the inspiring scenery and, if the day is clear, the volcano Mount Edgecumbe.

All the height… and you don’t need might!

The Osprey traverse gets its name from the bird of prey that is commonly seen perched on our decks and consist of 3 easy flights. The first flight south is the shortest traverse at 185 feet; it is also the tallest at 120 feet above the ground. We said it was easy, we didn’t say it wouldn’t be scary!

Start the second flight by be stepping off the platform 75-feet above the ground to soar some 850 feet to next landing perched just 75 feet above the ground.

Ascending a series of stairs takes you up to your launching pad for the final 900-foot zip to ground level back to where it all started.

At these heights the air is fresher, the colors are brighter, and the ground has never been so sweet.

Glide through the Venice of the North in a fitting manner, via glass-roofed canal boat. It’s an incomparable way to experience this cosmopolitan city that stretches over some 70 islands and boasts 60 miles of canals and 1,000 bridges. An obscure port mostly visited by fisherman back in the 13th century, Amsterdam steadily grew in trade importance – blossoming into one of the world’s most important ports as the Dutch Golden Age gained steam. On this relaxed waterway tour, you’ll traverse some of the four concentric canal rings that define the old city center while learning much of the history behind this watery network from your guide. Along the way, expect to pass countless variations on the signature gabled canal house design the city is so famous for. Just as colorful are the procession of houseboats and tiny skiffs tied up in organized randomness along the stone canal banks. The designated route brings you by such major monuments as the National Maritime Museum, magnificent Town Hall (once considered Europe’s largest administrative building).

    Calm Fjord Kayaking

Kayak the serene waters of the fjord that fronts Ísafjörður, a natural setting enhanced by the many seabirds that flock here to raise their young during the summer.

After walking from the pier, you will soon arrive at the kayak station, where you will enjoy a briefing on how to get the most out of your experience. Then, you will ease into a sleek kayak and paddle off into the clear, calm waters of the fjord.

Ísafjörður sits in a spectacularly scenic setting, so there will be plenty to see as you paddle between the majestic mountains that rise abruptly from both sides of the fjord. Because of the steep terrain, almost all of the buildings are at the water’s edge. Although Ísafjörður is the largest town on the Westfjords peninsula, its population is only a few thousand, and the town has remained remarkably quaint and well worth a photo.

You can also expect to see quite a bit of wildlife while kayaking, especially seals and seabirds. Oystercatchers are one of the most common and easily recognized birds because of their coloring. They are black and white with an orange bill and rose-colored legs.

You might also spot arctic terns, a bird that makes the world’s longest migration. They raise their young while summering in the arctic and then fly south all the way to Antarctica for the winter. They too are easily to identify because of their pointy wings and tails.
