Western Mediterranean Cruises from Rome

From the enchanting seaside towns of the French Riviera to the historic cities of Spain, experience the glamour of the Western Mediterranean.

Barcelona

Barcelona is one of Europe's top cruise destinations. It boasts one of the most interesting architectural styles, thanks partly to Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí. His designs are everywhere, including La Pedrera, Casa Batllo, and the most famous sight in Barcelona, the Sagrada Familia. La Sagrada Familia is a magnificent church that has been under construction for over 100 years. It is regarded as one of the world's most impressive Spanish Gothic and Art Nouveau architecture pieces.

A bit further afield, but also designed by Gaudí, is Park Güell. This park, located on a hill overlooking the city, features sculptures, mosaics, and other whimsical features. And, of course, there are stunning views of the city and the sea.

Cannes

Cannes is one of the most famous destinations on France's luxurious French Riviera, the Côte d'Azur. It is best known for the annual Cannes Film Festival at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès on La Croisette. This festival takes place every year in May, drawing in movie fans and celebrities from all around the world.

Outside of the festival weeks, visit the majestic old Art Deco hotels, sandy beaches, and the old town of Le Suquet. Head up to the hills for breathtaking views of the sea and town.

Palma de Maiorca

Palma, or Palma de Mallorca, is the capital of Mallorca and Spain's Balearic Islands. Palma is a popular destination for tourists looking to get away for a bit and enjoy the nature and beaches of the island. Palma's cathedral, Catedral-Basílica de Santa María de Mallorca, is one of Spain's most famous landmarks. There are stunning views of the sea and the city from the top of its bell tower.

Eastern Mediterranean Cruises from Rome

Visiting the Eastern Mediterranean is like stepping back in time. Learn about ancient history and see iconic landmarks that are still standing thousands of years later. Of course, there's also no shortage of picturesque sandy beaches and brilliant turquoise waters. From the iconic landmarks of Athens to the picturesque villages of Santorini, the Eastern Mediterranean offers a unique and unforgettable experience.

Atenas

Athens is the capital of Greece and one of the world's oldest cities. It is known as the birthplace of democracy, dating back to the fifth century B.C. Looming over the city is the Acropolis, where you can find many of the city's most recognizable landmarks, including the Parthenon and the Temple of Athena Nike. The Plaka, the old town of Athens at the base of the Acropolis, is home to many of the city's most popular restaurants, bars, and shops. Nearby is the Agora, an ancient marketplace that was the historic center of Athenian life.

Santorini

Santorini is considered by many to be the most beautiful of the Greek islands. The island's rugged landscape was shaped by the eruption of a volcano over 2,500 years ago. What remains today is volcanic terrain with rich soil and a beautiful lagoon in the volcano's caldera.

The rich volcanic soil of Santorini lends itself to the island's outstanding wines, such as white wines made from the Assyrtiko grape. These wines are also grown on unique vines formed into a basket shape to protect the grapes from the sea winds. Santorini's towns, such as Oia, are known for their whitewashed buildings with blue roofs. The trek to the top is a workout if you don't take the cable car, but the views are worth it.

Jerusalem

Jerusalem is one of the world's holiest cities and sacred sites of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The most religious sites in the Jewish faith, such as the Wailing Wall and the old Western Wall of the ancient Jewish Temple, can be found here. The Dome of the Rock, built on the Temple site, is sacred to Muslims. The Church of the Holy Sepulcher is built on the site of the crucifixion and burial of Jesus.
