Hiking Tour on Vestvag

A 30-minute drive takes you from the pier in Leknes to Vendalsfjord where your hiking tour begins. The first portion of the hike will be along a comfortable road with an easy incline, until you reach an altitude of about 650 feet/198 meters. From here you’ll have a panoramic view of the western and northern parts of Vestvagoy Island. You’ll also see Gimsoy Island and the open ocean to the northwest. On very clear days you may also see the mainland of Norway in the horizon.

From this highest point, you’ll continue on a path to Tjonndalen, passing some small and abandoned farms along the way. You’ll continue along the valley to the main road, where your coach will be waiting to take you back to the pier.
