Accessible Mobility Equipment: Old Town Corfu & Kanoni

OVERVIEW

This excursion is for guests who are fully dependent on their mobility device. You will be required to supply your own wheelchair/scooter. Your mobility equipment (manual or electric) must not exceed the following dimensions: W 39", L 51", H 80".

Those guests that are companions, use a cane or walker, or have limited mobility issues must book the companion tour code CFU_A1 Accessible- Companion: Old Town Corfu & Kanoni.

Tour includes step-free routes, shorter distances and no stairs. Accessible restrooms with wide doors for wheelchairs are present along the tour route. Vehicles are adapted with an access ramp (or lift where available) to accommodate a limited number of wheelchairs and/or mobility scooters. Guides are not allowed to push wheelchairs; therefore, guests needing special assistance must be accompanied by an able-bodied.

Visit some of the most visually arresting and historical attractions in and around Old Town and come away with a greater understanding of Corfu. UNESCO declared the Old Town a World Heritage site for its preserved fortifications and Venetian architecture. Be sure to notice the Venetian symbol on the arched entrance to the 15th-century Old Fortress and the nearby chapel where prisoners were once chained before being executed. Time will also be allotted for shopping around Spianada Square, a lovely French garden-style setting. The seaside quarter of Kanoni is noted for its views, especially the one of Mouse Island just offshore. According to legend, Ulysses shipwrecked there, and Poseidon turned the ship into the island. To round out your exploration of the area, you will browse the Museum of Palaiopolis-Mon Repos. The collection includes household, commercial and religious objects that reveal intriguing aspects of the private and public lives that the ancient Corfiots led.
