OVERVIEW

Experience the history, culture and flavors of South Kona on this relaxed half-day tour along the Kona coast. Accompanied by a local guide raised on Hawaiʻi Island, travel south through scenic Kona countryside to Kealakekua Bay, also known as Kaʻawaloa Bay, for a photo stop at the Captain Cook Monument. The bay is closely tied to Hawaiian royalty and the enforcement of kapu, and its clear waters and coral reef make it one of the coast’s most beautiful settings, where spinner dolphins are sometimes seen. Continue to Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park for a guided visit to the historic City of Refuge, an excellent introduction to traditional Hawaiian culture. Stop for lunch at Reel Aloha Poke & Cafe Florian, a local favorite where your meal is included and may be a poke bowl, poke nachos or a handcrafted deli sandwich or panini. Visit historic Greenwell Farms for a complimentary Kona coffee tasting and time in the gift shop, which features locally made products. Return to Kailua-Kona Pier after a day of South Kona’s natural beauty and flavors.
