Begin your walking tour at Sitka National Historical Park, where your local guide will share stories of the 1804 Battle of Alaska, a key event marking the start of Russian colonial influence. As you stroll through the lush rainforest trails, enjoy the fresh air, and explore the park’s totem collection and cultural exhibits at the visitor center. The walk continues along the harbor’s shoreline, showcasing Victorian homes, ornate churches, and Sheldon Jackson College, home to the Sheldon Jackson Museum. Established in 1888, the museum preserves Alaska’s natural and cultural history with a vast collection of Native art and artifacts.

Note: Guests need to be able to walk up to 3 miles and stand for more than 10 minutes. Walking terrain is mainly sidewalks with some hard-packed dirt paths. It is not recommended for guests who utilize a wheelchair. Those guests with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of ability and stamina.
