    hrs Estimate Duration

Zip through the glassy waters of Lusterfjord in a speedy but stable RIB vessel, admiring the panoramic views of the natural beauty and idyllic mountain villages.

After walking from the pier, you will soon reach your RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat), an open-air boat that is able to zip through the water yet still offer a remarkably smooth ride. After suiting up, you will head off to explore. The boat can cover a wide area quickly, which makes the most of the one hour or so that you will spend on Lusterfjord, an arm of Sognefjord, the longest and deepest fjord in Norway.

From this unique perspective, you will enjoy sweeping views of the coastline, which is dotted with small family farms and centuries-old villages like Skjolden and nearby Marifjora. While the vessel pauses for you to take photos, your guide will share fascinating facts about the villages, the surrounding terrain and the history of this part of Norway.

You can also expect to see the entrance to Otta tunnel and Harastølen, a sanatorium that opened in 1902 to treat patients suffering from tuberculosis. Now abandoned, Harastølen perches on a hill high above the fjord and looks like a grand white castle.

Feigumfossen waterfall is another highlight. As the water roars off the mountain, it free falls more than 700 feet, eventually making its way into the fjord.

Before returning to the pier, you may also catch sight of harbor porpoises and seals, which often approach vessels in the fjord out of curiosity.
