It might come as a surprise but Prince Edward Island was the first province to enter prohibition. Industrious Islanders started opening underground speakeasies and found many clever ways to import, steal or make their own alcohol to flout the law. It wasn't until 30 years after the first province legalized alcohol, when PEI finally ended prohibition and was the last province to do so. Today, the island is thriving with local breweries, wineries, cideries and distilleries producing world-class beverages that are putting our tiny province on the map. Join us on this 3 ½ -hour drink tour through historic Charlottetown with stops at four exciting locations and sip the very best libations our Island has to offer. Become an honorary Islander by downing a strong salty shot. Stroll through the heart of downtown to stop for a unique Island cocktail. Experience a fledgling craft brewery with tons of personality and great brews! Try a glass of Island-made wine and a slice of wood-fired pizza.
