Cruise across the harbor to Fort Sumter, where the first shots of the Civil War were fired, and then return to Charleston for an enlightening tour of its Historic District. On the way to the fort, you will be treated to a unique perspective of the city seen only from the water. Upon arriving at Fort Sumter, a Ranger from the National Park Service will give an informative introduction to the fort. After this introduction explore the fort with your private guide who will be available to answer questions. Returning to Charleston, you will become further immersed in history as you view the Historic District from the comfort of your motor coach. Likely, you will pass the Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon, the site of the 1860 National Democratic Convention, and the original site of the esteemed military college The Citadel. Later, you will pause at White Point Gardens, where you will enjoy a sweeping view of the harbor and Fort Sumter.
