Stroll the winding paths of Magnolia Gardens, a tranquil wonderland with the distinction of being America’s oldest public garden. Founded on the Ashley River in 1676 by the Drayton family, the Magnolia Plantation has been a Low Country landmark for centuries. When the garden opened to the public in 1870s, it became Charleston’s first tourist site. It has only become more magnificent with time, as you will discover by meandering past countless species of plants that include the azaleas, camellias, and tupelo gum trees, On the Nature Train, chances are you will spot alligators, great blue herons and other wetlands creatures. Afterwards, tour the Magnolia House, a magnificent residence listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is full of period furnishings that reflect the lifestyle of the Drayton family.

Note: This tour includes approximately two hours of walking and additional walking at the guests’ discretion during free time. Gift Shop available. The garden paths may be difficult for wheelchair maneuvering. It is available to wheelchair guests who can both make their way on and off the coach and sit in a coach seat. Those guests with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of ability and stamina before joining the tour.
