Measures to Ensure Safety

Your health and well-being is our top priority. So much so, that we’ve implemented some of the strictest measures in the industry. All guests will be asked to complete a pre-embarkation Public Health Questionnaire certifying their current health status and recent travel history. Also, all guests and crew will be administered a non-touch fever temperature check prior to boarding. Guests who do not meet this strict criteria may not be allowed to board.

Information onSuspended Sailings

Guests who were booked on suspended cruises with embarkation dates from March 13 through April 11, 2020 will automatically receive a 125% or 150% refund (depending on the original cruise date) of their cruise fare in the form of a Future Cruise Credit which can be applied towards any Norwegian Cruise Line voyage through December 31, 2022. Future Cruise Credits will be applied to your account by April 1, 2020.

Cruises with embarkation dates from March 13 to March 17, 2020 will receive 150%
Cruises with embarkation dates from March 18 to April 11, 2020 will receive 125%

We’re also giving an additional 20% discount when you book by April 10, 2020 using your Future Cruise Credit on cruises embarking July 1, 2020 - December 31, 2022! This discount will be automatically applied when you book online.

Guests who do not prefer to take advantage of a future cruise credit will receive a refund to be payable within 90 days of request after submitting this form. Refund requests must be submitted by no later than 45 days after the voyage cancellation notification (i.e. refund requests must be submitted by April 27, 2020 for suspended sailings between March 13 – April 11, 2020).

What is Norwegian’s Peace of Mind?

Peace of Mind is the company’s new temporary policy that allows new and existing individual and group bookings in non-chartered sailings embarking from March 10, 2020 through and including September 30, 2020 to cancel their booking up until 48 hours from the start of their vacation date and receive a 100% future cruise credit (FCC) for the payments that are already received by Norwegian Cruise Line. The FCC may be used for sailings that embark on or before December 31, 2022. The new booking must be made within one year of the cancellation date.

What sailings qualify under Norwegian’s Peace of Mind policy?

Effective March 10, 2020, the Peace of Mind policy applies to all non-chartered sailings from March 10, 2020 through September 30, 2020.

How long will guests have to redeem their future cruise credit (FCC)?

All future cruise credits must be redeemed within one year from issue date and can be used for sailings departing on or before December 31, 2022. FCCs can be used for any purchase other than an onboard credit (OBC).

How long will it take to receive my future cruise credit?

FCCs will be credited to the guests via their Latitudes number within seven business days. Communication will be sent to the travel partner and guest once the FCC is added.

Does this policy apply retroactively to previously booked sailings?

Yes. The policy applies to existing and active bookings for sailings from March 10, 2020 through September 30, 2020.

Does this policy apply retroactively to previously canceled bookings?

No. The policy does not apply to bookings canceled prior to March 10, 2020.

Does the new Peace of Mind policy affect the final payment for voyages?

No. Final payment is based on our current standard policy.

Didn’t you change your final payment policy?

Yes, we temporarily modified our payment schedule. However, our new Peace of Mind policy supersedes any previously communicated changes and is effective for all sailings from March 10, 2020 through September 30, 2020. System and confirmations will be updated to reflect standard final payment date accordingly. We expect this to be complete no later than March 11, 2020.

Auto-Cancel functionality has been temporarily turned off while this update occurs so your booking will not be cancelled until March 17, 2020. For all final payments now due, please complete payment no later than March 17, 2020.

What is the process for canceling?

For those canceling under the Peace of Mind policy, the FCC will be applied to the guests' profile in 7 business days. If the booking is outside final payment, refunds will work as usual. As always, for more assistance, please call Norwegian Cruise Line beginning March 11, 2020 at 1-800-327-7030 (U.S. and Canada).

How long will the Peace of Mind policy be in effect?

Norwegian Cruise Line reserves the right to modify the policy at any time. Any changes will be communicated.

What happens if there is a difference in cruise fare between the future cruise credit (FCC) issued and the future booking?

If the cruise fare for the new booking exceeds the FCC’s value, guests will be responsible for the difference. Alternatively, if the new cruise fare is lower than the FCC’s value, a new FCC will be issued for the remaining balance.

What costs are included in the future cruise credit (FCC)?

The following will be applied to the FCC:

  • Cruise fare and taxes
    • Including any winning Upgrade Advantage payments.
  • Flight arrangements booked through Norwegian Cruise Line.
  • Hotel and CruiseTour packages purchased through Norwegian Cruise Line.
  • Shore Excursions booked and pre-paid through Norwegian Cruise Line
  • Prepaid service charges
  • Beverage or Dining gratuities (if part of FAS Promotion selection)
  • Essentials Travel Protection
Are any amounts on the affected bookings being refunded instead of being included in the FCC?

Any ancillary items sold by Norwegian Cruise Line will be refunded to the cardholder who made the original purchase (refunded to the original form of payment) and will not be included in the FCC. Ancillary pre-purchased items include:

  • Bon Voyage gifts and celebration packages
  • Dining or beverage packages (those not part of the Free at Sea (FAS) promotion)
  • Water and/or soda packages
  • Purchased on board credits
  • Internet packages
  • Photo packages
What is not included in the future cruise credit (FCC) or refund?

The following will not be applied to the FCC or refund:

  • Booksafe Platinum or Standard Travel Protection
  • Special Promotional Onboard Credits (OBC)
    Will a guest’s air change fees be protected?

    Guests who secured air accommodations through Norwegian Cruise Line’s airfare program and now wish to alter their plans, can do so with peace of mind as accommodations and fees are protected. Guests who purchased flights independently, should contact their air travel provider for guidance.

    Do standard Final Payment timelines still apply?

    Yes, standard payment policies apply.

    Can the future cruise credit (FCC) be used as payment towards the same cancelled cruise if they decide at a later date to sail?

    No. The 48-hour prior to sailing cancellation window provides Peace of Mind allowing you to defer decisions to a later date and therefore the cancelled cruise may not be re-booked using the FCC.

    What happens if a new reservation using the FCC is cancelled at a later point in time?

    Full value of FCC will be credited back to the guest’s latitudes profile if cancellation is outside of standard penalties. Cancellation penalties will be withdrawn from the FCC amount if applicable and remaining balance will be attached to guest’s profile.

    I won a bid on the Norwegian Upgrade Advantage. Am I guaranteed the same category on the new booking?

    No, guests will receive the full value of their winning bid within the FCC and can apply that towards the sailing and category of their choice. Guests can then participate in a new bid once invited to the program for the newly selected sailing.

    Should I take out Travel Protection on the new bookings?

    Travel protection is always highly recommended and the Peace of Mind policy does not replace protection provided by travel insurance.

    I am booked on a Sixthman cruise, which sails on Norwegian. Does Norwegian’s Peace of Mind apply to me?

    Cruises booked through Sixthman and all other charter partners do not apply to this policy.

    What is the criteria for denying guests boarding?

    We continue to work with authorities to update the criteria below. Please keep in mind that these can change at any time.

    To protect the health of our guests on board, we will be denying boarding to anyone who

    • Guests who have traveled from, visited or transited via airports in China, Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, Iran, or Italy within 30 days of their voyage embarkation, regardless of nationality. Travel companions of these guests who share the same stateroom will also be denied boarding.
    • Guests who in the last 30 days have come into known direct contact with anyone who has traveled from, visited or transited via airports in China, Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, Iran, or Italy. Travel companions of these guests who share the same stateroom will also be denied boarding.
    • Any guest with a temperature detected at or above 100.4F / 38C.
    • All persons who, within 30 days prior to embarkation, have had contact with, or helped care for, anyone suspected or diagnosed as having COVID-19, or who are currently subject to health monitoring for possible exposure to COVID-19
    • All persons who have reported on the Pre-Embarkation Public Health Questionnaire or who appear symptomatic, are feeling unwell, are exhibiting flu-like symptoms or exhibit difficulty breathing.

    Guests who are denied boarding will be issued a refund for monies paid for their cruise- only expenditures in the form of a 100% future cruise credit.

    What protocols have been implemented to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19)?

    The safety and well-being of guests and team members are Norwegian Cruise Line’s number one priority. The company has a Chief Medical Officer on staff as well as dozens of medical professionals throughout its fleet, and it continues to consult with The World Health Organization (WHO) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to make the best decisions possible and take appropriate action as needed.

    Norwegian Cruise Line is very proud of the protocols and preventative measures it has in place to address concerns regarding COVID-19. In addition to extensive cleaning and disinfection protocols on board all voyages and health screenings of passengers and crew members, the Company has been denying boarding to guests who have traveled from, visited or transited via high-risk areas; and it has modified several sailings to avoid areas of concern.     Will Tour Conductors (TC’s) be protected for affected canceled bookings?

    Yes, all Tour Conductors will be protected for active bookings as of 3:00 PM EST on March 13, 2020. Please note that this is a manual process. We will need time to create appropriate processes for each group. We will continue to provide process updates as these are made available.

    Will out of pocket costs incurred as a result of this cancellation be reimbursed?

    While we understand this change may cause some out of pocket and unexpected expenses for affected guests, they will not be reimbursed for those costs. We recommend that guests who purchased travel protection or independent travel insurance submit a claim through their carrier.

    Do you anticipate extending this temporary suspension past 30 days?

    At this time, we anticipate just a 30-day suspension. We will continue to share information as it becomes available. We look forward to welcoming our guests aboard soon for amazing vacations at sea.

    Which guests on the bookings receive the FCC?

    The FCC goes to each individual guest on the reservation based on the breakdown of charges per guest.

    Can a guest make a new booking before they receive the FCC for their canceled booking?

    Absolutely. However, for FCCs associated with these affected cruises, the FCC must be first generated and attached to the guest profile. Once the FCC is added to the guest profile, FCCs can then be applied to any existing booking or newly created booking.

    What happens if the cancelled booking had a previous FCC applied?

    The original FCC will be added back to the guests' profile and then they will also receive a new FCC for the outstanding amount.

    What happens when one or more guests cancel, but other guests on the same booking choose to sail?

    We are working on a solution to this scenario. Please check back as FAQs are continuously being updated.

    Can guests choose to carry promotional amenities or value adds from their cancelled reservation to their future booking?

    At time of cancellation, all promotional offers, amenities and value adds will be removed from the booking and will not carry-over to future reservations. Future reservations are subject to prevailing fares and offers in market at the time of booking.
