OVERVIEW

Behold southern Sweden’s immense natural beauty by driving along its rugged coastline and through a protected reserve. On the drive out of Helsingborg, you will pass its landmark neo-Gothic town hall and Sofiero Castle, the former summer residence of the royal family. The landscape will become more dramatic as you travel up the coast to Kullaberg, a natural reserve that sprawls across a rocky peninsula of steep cliffs and hardy vegetation. Inhabited as early as the Stone Age, the area supports a variety of rare flora and fauna. One of the most unexpected animals there is the longhaired, long-horned Scottish Highland cow, a reddish-hued species that thrives in harsh conditions. Continuing on, you will visit Brunnby Church, a whitewashed granite building erected in the 12th century. About 300 years later, magnificent frescoes depicting the saints were added, elevating the church’s reputation as one of the region’s most hallowed places of worship.
